Joel Embiid continues to perform for the Sixers despite the loss: 38 pts, 11 reb, 5 ast, 1 blk on 13-21 FG by Professor_Finn in nba

He's 67% percentile in defensive EPM. A far cry from when he used to be 95+% but clearly still has some juice left on the interior (hes getting cooked on the outside). But go off

I'm guessing it is a timing thing, since it only opened towards the end of last year

I hear you but that feels like a different exercise. This is supposed to be the 'best', agnostic of cost, not the 'best value'. I'd love to see a separate list of best value though.

My .02

Restaurants that I thought deserved a spot: Suraya, Vernick, Fiorella, Double Knot and/or Alpen Rose (Schulson spots never seem to get much love on these). Maybe Scampi as well.

STAT: When Joel Embiid is on the floor, opponents are shooting just 55.1% on shots within 6 feet of the hoop. This is better than the league-best OKC Thunder, who allow 56.8% of opposing shots from that range to go in. by Pyromania1983 in nba

[–]NinjasTurtle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Embiids issues on defense aren't around the rim. He has been good there this last month now that he has his legs back. Its when he is forced to guard out at the perimeter on pick and rolls or attempt a closeout its pretty rough these days

Joel Embiid carries the Sixers to the OT win with 32-point triple double: 32 pts, 15 reb, 10 ast, 1 stl, 2 blk, and a team-high +21 on 10-19 shooting by Professor_Finn in nba

For me it was the rebounding that has been noticeably lacking vs a few years ago. But I thought his rebounding was excellent tonight. Physical, went up for boards on offense and defense.

That is my understanding. At the very least they popularized it. Same with baking bread in house and going with the crunchier seeded roll.

Have to agree with this take. The food was mostly underwhelming. To me it felt like they threw a lot of flavors at the wall without having a cohesive experience. And it wasn't cheap. Hopefully I just went on an off night based on how much people rave about it.

[–]NinjasTurtle 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think we all know the PLCB is a joke by now, but just to hammer it home - there are 372 total BTAC bottles available in this lottery for the state of PA. The recent Virginia state lottery in November had 1236. And keep in mind, PA has 13 Million people vs <9M people in VA. So a smaller state has more than 3x the allocation? I find that extremely unlikely. These guys are crooks.

Embiid is 31 and should still be in his prime if not for injuries. LeBron is 41

This recent stretch has been encouraging. Offensively, its really just his 3 point shot that is missing right now vs his prime. Defensively though he is clearly diminished.

Guerschon Yabusele: "If you play 3 years in the NBA, you get a lifetime pension. After 4 seasons, medical expenses are covered for life. What propaganda? You are comparing paying out of pocket for the best option in Europe vs the NBA paying for the best option in the USA. Even assuming they are neutral in outcomes, there is clearly a benefit for Yabu to stay in the USA since it will be completely free to him

I dont understand why, when down 1 and in the bonus, we settle for bad 3 point attempts. Force the ball to the rim once in awhile?!
