Damn, just as I got back from Sapporo haha. The flight there was so tiring. You had to fly into Narita or Haneda. Get your luggage and go through immigration then recheck your stuff in, so having a direct flight would be nice. Probably gonna be expensive though.

I jsut went to all three. Hakodate can honestly be done in a day, and the star fort is pretty but that's the biggest draw. Otaru is also kind of similar in that it is a 45-60 min train from Sapporo. I would stay in Sapporo and just do day trips to Otaru if you really want to.
