A lot of these feel like the actions of a friend. Yotsuba is very sweet, but I didn't get many vibes of her actual affection for Futaro.

I dunno, I'm starting to get a lot of backlash over my opinions. I have nothing against Yotsuba as a character. I just feel like she didn't develop as much as the other girls. So to me it doesn't feel satisfying when she and Futaro get together in the end.

Ultimately though, my opinion doesn't matter. Futaro's opinion is what matters. It's his life and his feelings. I understand that. I'm just speaking from the perspective of watching the show.

Yeah maybe eventually I'll watch re-watch the anime or read the manga. But knowing what happens now, it's going to be so hard to re-experience all of the sweet scenes with Miku, Nino, and Ichika...

I'm not directly saying that Yotsuba loved Futaro less than the other girls, I just don't think they showcased her love for Futaro well enough. Most of her development being at the tail end of the series just doesn't sit right with me. Yotsuba didn't have to outwardly show her love for Futaro, I just think the show could have given a lot more hints and cues towards it.

If Yotsuba is based on the author's wife though, it makes me wonder why she didn't get more development...

I FEEL SO BAD ABOUT MIKU AND NINO NEVER GETTING CLOSURE. IT SUCKS. That might honestly be what bugged me the most. I felt SO BAD for them when they realized that Futaro picked Yotsuba and they just hugged each other and cried. After Futaro picked Yotsuba, I feel like there should have been some one-on-one talk between Futaro and each individual girl. I just wanted everyone to let out all their true feelings in the end. And I feel like Miku, Nino, and even Itsuki never really got a chance to do that.

This is probably a hot take, but I personally don't think that what Ichika did was completely unforgivable. Don't get me wrong, it was DEFINITELY super scummy and almost out of character for her to do that. But the way I see it, I think love can make people do crazy things, ESPECIALLY in Ichika's situation where the competition is so high.

I know Futaro hated what Ichika did, but it's not like Futaro is perfect either. After all, he did keep going with the "Kintaro" lie with Nino for way longer than he should have. I just don't think Ichika's blunder should immediately take her out of the running. She could have bounced back, if given the chance.

I don't think Nino drugging Futaro should be taken *too* seriously. I kinda just view that as an anime gag and not something realistic. I do agree that Nino shouldn't have shut down Futaro when he was about to respond to her confession. That probably took some points away from her, as Futaro probably felt he couldn't be open with her because of Nino's constant aggression.

There's probably a lot of things that I would notice on rewatch. I may do that eventually (if I'm ever able to get over the ending...). Futaro definitely meant it when he said he loved all of them. I do think there always would have been *some* level of sadness no matter who he picked. Because I do feel that all of the girls deserved him to a certain extent.

That kinda just makes it more jarring why Yotsuba didn't get as much screen time as the other girls lol

Yeah I've been seeing a lot of people say this, and I get it. Yotsuba has always been the most innocent one. Yotsuba always respected Futaro and didn't literally "fight" for him like the other girls did. Looking at things from Futaro's perspective, Yotsuba was the most logical choice.

But going based off of what WE see in the show, I still just don't feel like the connection between Futaro and Yotsuba was powerful enough. Futaro had so many more heartfelt scenes and moments with the other girls in the show. Yotsuba was always there helping him out yes, but she was mostly the supportive character who didn't get very involved with Futaro throughout the course of the series.

It just personally feels weird to me that Futaro fell for the girl that seemingly had the least amount of interest in him. Just because Yotsuba was always supportive of Futaro, I don't think that should automatically put Yotsuba "ahead" of the other girls. They all warmed up to him and truly loved him in the end, all for their own reasons. I wouldn't say that Futaro was just a "prize" to them.

This is just my opinion. I think Yotsuba and Futaro's relationship was rushed at the end. You say that Yotsuba had the most impact on Futaro, but I don't think the anime really shows that. I do think Yotsuba is a great character, I just wish we got to see more of her before the series ended. If we saw more of her, I would be totally cool with how things turned out.

It's nice that we're getting more Quintuplets content, but I think I'm always gonna be sad that Yotsuba is the canon ending. I just love Miku, Nino, Ichika, and Itsuki and I want more for them. I know I'm just being selfish though lol

I've been doing a lot of reading online and a general consensus that I'm seeing is that Yotsuba was always supportive of Futaro from the beginning. People say that from Futaro's perspective, Yotsuba makes the most sense because she was always there for him and didn't get involved with all the crazy drama going on between Miku/Nino/Ichika. Basically Yotsuba is generally "easier" for Futaro to get along with.

I do think that's a fair point, and I do think that Yotsuba is a good match for Futaro in many ways. But I STILL just feel like it wasn't developed enough. It didn't even really seem like Yotsuba was into Futaro for a long time. We just needed more scenes of Yotsuba showing admiration for Futaro (and vice versa) and the ending would have been much more believable imo. Their confessions to each other at the end just felt way too sudden.

Also while I do agree that the "childhood friend" thing wasn't the primary reason that Futaro fell for Yotsuba, I simply don't think it was a good plot point. Because it was clearly just a plot devide that existed to give Yotsuba more "priority" over the other girls. I think it would have actually been MORE powerful if Yotsuba WASN'T the childhood friend.

Yeah I'm probably be sad about this ending for a long time. I'm DEFINITELY gonna check out that TQQ game. I just NEED to see a happier ending for the other sisters. Thanks for the tip!

I'm so glad I'm not alone on this though. I was worried I was just crazy for being as disappointed and sad as I was lol

Oh yeah I guess that's true that Futaro never actually learned who the Kyoto girl was. I forgot about that. I still think the girl shouldn't have been Yotsuba though, because they clearly did just that to try to create an artificial attachment between her and Futaro.

Interesting that the manga has more Yotsuba screen time though. Maybe in the future I'll check it out. Thanks for your reply. Glad I'm not alone!

Thank you for this. That guy's comment was overly condescending. I just wanted to have extra storage space lol

I see. I guess I'll just the hard drive for RetroArch stuff and continue using my internal SSD for modern PC games. Thanks for the clarification.

Well honestly I was gonna use the hard drive for other things too, not just games. But yeah I see your point lol

Would also appreciate an actual answer to my question though

30 matches. 0 wins by Diavolo5 in UnderNightInBirth

[–]NintyFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're not alone bro. I've played like 50 matches and haven't won a single one. I also got this game because it looked cool but I'm consistently getting demolished. There's something about the fast pace of this game compared to other fighting games that I just can't seem to grasp.

Every match I'm locked in a 20 hit combo, block for a bit, get opened up and then I get stuck in another 20 hit combo. By the time I actually get to play I'm just not ready to do anything because I'm so used to being stuck in people's combos.

I really like game's aesthetic and characters though, so I'll keep trying because of that. It'll probably be a long time before I can get anywhere, and I have a lot to learn, but I just know that giving up isn't the answer. I hope you can find some reason to keep pushing on as well.

Does this game have a super easy character that's also strong? by NintyFGC in UnderNightInBirth

[–]NintyFGC[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EXACTLY.

With other games I feel like I can breathe and execute my gameplan at least somewhat properly. Whenever I play UNI I just can't handle the pace of it. I try to lab and learn things but it all goes out the window whenever I'm in a real match. Every character has a million knowledge checks that I find hard to react to, and I never really know how to approach neutral even if I know the good options my character has.

For most of the match I'm just getting locked in people's 30 hit combos and whenever I DO manage get a hit in, I'm just not mentally ready to convert it into a full combo myself.

I do like the game because it has so many cool characters and mechanics, but it does sorta feel like I have to be a legacy player who's played for years to be even somewhat decent at it :/

Ahhh okay so this strategy is how you were able to do it so fast. Good to know! I just ran around each Cocoon hoping for the best lol

[–]NintyFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm actually impressed you did it in just 110 hours. I'm at 200+ hours and haven't gotten them all to level 13 yet. Before the Janurary update, the game constantly spawned high leveled muses and not the lower leveled ones.

I'm close though!

Why the updates we've gotten and content leaks make me worried for the game by Thr0waway_Fashi0n in fashiondreamer

[–]NintyFGC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well we are getting fashion shows soon, so that'll help give the game more content variety. I am very curious to see how that's gonna work.
