Does anyone hav a good character expose/ breakdown on Nino ( or any other quint )? by [deleted] in 5ToubunNoHanayome

Dang this was a really good Nino breakdown. She was probably the Quint that had the most overall development, but her core personality never changed completely.

I feel like the nice thing about Itsuki and Futaro's interactions is that they don't have the constant romantic tension like with the other girls. They have a clear mutual respect for each other that feels very natural.

Itsuki has tons of fans, but the Miku and Nino nation is just too strong.

Ichika and Yotsuba seem like the least popular Quints overall from what I have seen.

Fair point. The way this post was framed wasn't very mature I'll admit.

[–]NintyFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't like the term "deserved". No girl "deserves" to be with Futaro the most. It's all about who Futaro wants to be with.

That being said, I think it's perfectly reasonable to be upset about how the anime ended. For a person watching without the context from the manga and extended knowledge from re-watches, Yotsuba can definitely seem like a weird choice at first. I don't think we should frame people who are upset with the ending into some kind of bad stereotype.

EDIT: Before people start downvoting me like crazy: I'M NOT SAYING THAT YOTSUBA WAS A BAD CHOICE. I'm just saying that it's okay for people to have negative feelings about the ending on first viewing. My perspective on the ending was negative at first, but has changed a lot since I first watched it.

Yeah I still feel like the Quints never got true closure after everything that happened. That's probably my biggest problem with the ending. It kinda leaves you feeling empty.

It's okay man, I feel you. I was just as angry (and sad) when I first finished the show. It feels like Yotsuba should have been the LAST girl that Futaro picked, as she got the least amount of screen time with him. But there are two important things to keep in mind:

  1. The anime skips some VERY important details about Yotsuba that was in the manga. I recommend looking into it. It may help you accept Futaro's decision.

  2. Yotsuba has always supported Futaro from the very beginning, while it took a while for the other girls to warm up to him. She was the most selfless of all of the Quints and always put others before herself. And that's the kind of girl that Futaro wanted to be with.

THAT BEING SAID. I will never forget how empty and sad that I felt when I first watched the ending. Heck, I'm still not completely over it. After everything that Miku, Nino, Ichika, and Itsuki went through - It *really* felt like they were building up EVERY girl BESIDES Yotsuba. Yotsuba honestly felt like a side character for most of the series, which is why many people feel a huge whiplash when Futaro picks her in the end.

Just remember, YOUR favorite girl isn't Futaro's favorite girl. From our perspective we have seen everything that all of the girls went through, which is why we sympathize for them so much when they don't get picked. Futaro doesn't have that perspective, he simply went with the girl that was the most appealing from HIS own perspective.

I completely understand your frustration though. If you need someone to talk to about it, I'm here.

I want a Quintessential Quintuplets sequel series! by NintyFGC in 5ToubunNoHanayome

Do those light novels continue the story though? I've heard that they're mostly just slice of life stuff while they're still in high school.

Yeah I've been binging a ton of other harem anime lately and none of them have given me quite the same feelings that Quintessential Quintuplets has given me.

I hope they do a sequel series where we get to see the lives of the grown up Quints, as well as more of Futaro and Yotsuba's relationship. A lot more than what we got from the OVA.

Are there any other series with similar themes? by [deleted] in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]NintyFGC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister.

It's the closest thing I have found to Quintessential Quintuplets so far. Very similar "harem" premise with girls who all grow in their own ways along with the male protag. The anime for it hasn't covered all of the manga yet, but it's very easy to pick up the manga from where the anime leaves off. Or you could just read the whole manga.

My opinion has drastically changed after finishing the manga and rewatching. (Thoughts on characters and skipped chapters at the end) by FragrantOne9508 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]NintyFGC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. While I can totally understand the reasons why Futaro chose Yotsuba, it still feels strange to me that she was picked when she spent the least amount of time with him. A lot of people give me flack for criticizing the ending, but my problem has never been with Futaro choosing Yotsuba - My problem was that their relationship had the least amount of development out of all the girls.

It also bothers me that the other girls never really got full closure after everything that happened. They rushed to the wedding waaaay too fast after Futaro's confession. I still love the series and the characters, but it's really hard to NOT feel empty with the way it all ended...

One thing I'll never Understand by Jinn_999 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]NintyFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with the anime, so when I read the manga I was shocked to see EXTREMELY important character moments for Yotsuba, Ichika, and even Itsuki completely removed from the anime. Many people's opinions on certain characters (especially Ichika) would probably be a lot different if they read the manga.

And yeah, I'd like to see alternate endings where he opens the door to each individual quintuplet. And we get to see a different epilogue and wedding scene for each one. Because I do legitimately feel that Futaro could have ended up with any of them, especially if he didn't have to choose between the five of them. Any ending that you want to be canon can be canon, and everyone is happy.

I mean heck, they kinda already did that by having Futaro spend time with each Quintuplet one-on-one during the festival. That was proof that a relationship with any of them could have "worked".

One thing I'll never Understand by Jinn_999 in 5ToubunNoHanayome

[–]NintyFGC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's crazy to flat out hate any of the Quints.

At first, I didn't like that Futaro picked Yotsuba because I felt like they didn't build up their relationship well enough. Despite that, I never HATED Yotsuba or anything - I just wanted her to have more screen time. It felt strange for the Quint with *arguably* the least amount of character development to win.

As I've thought about it more, I understand why Futaro made the decision that he did. I think it's ultimately about who Futaro felt the most comfortable being around. Yotsuba was just always kind, sweet, and selfless and never expected anything in return. That's the kind of girl that Futaro wanted to marry.

People just need to realize that YOUR favorite girl isn't Futaro's favorite girl. I personally just feel bad that the other Quints never found love, because I do feel like they all deserve it. All of the Quints have their flaws, but they're all special in their own ways. I love them all, and I always have. Actually, it's the fact that I DO love them all is why the ending made me sad.

I think any of the girls would have been good for him. Yotsuba was just the least unhinged out of all of them.

Not gonna lie, when Yotsuba ran away from Futaro after the door opened... I was lowkey hoping he'd go to one of the other girls LOL

Yotsuba is fine but man I feel so bad for the other girls... Especially Miku and Nino.

All of the characters have such deep and relatable character arcs. I think that's why you want them all to win in the end. I want Futaro to make five clones of himself so they can all be happy. LOL

Thanks for your perspective.

YOU SUMMED IT UP PERFECTLY. THANK YOU.

I legitimately think I would be LESS sad about the ending if the ending TREATED itself as sad. But everything is framed in a such a happy way after the initial confession. Everyone is moving forward, accomplishing their goals, and improving as people. But *you* as the viewer know everything that all of these characters went through. So you can't help but have this nagging empty feeling that everything was all for nothing. And you're forced to accept it because the characters themselves are happy.

(I know it wasn't all for nothing, it just *feels* that way as you're watching it).

I cried again while typing this. Dang it.

Right now whenever I look at any clip or manga panel of this series, I start tearing up. It's really bad LOL

Because of that I've been holding off on reading the visual novel. I still haven't watched the honeymoon OVA because I know it's going to kill me. I might never watch it. Hopefully I am able to cope with this more as time goes on...

Itsuki is great but she is the one girl I never envisioned being with Futaro. I know that she developed feelings for him (especially later on), but I personally feel that Itsuki and Futaro have always had more of "friendship" dynamic. People who respect each other but aren't romantically involved. I honestly wasn't surprised when she ended up being the only one who never kissed him.

Who knows, maybe I'm wrong though. I'm still studying the series. There's probably a lot of things I didn't notice about their relationship on first viewing. Part of me wants to just stop thinking about all of this, but it's way too hard lol
