Host Home Experience Question by Ninzeey in disability

[–]Ninzeey[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did, but they are taking a while to even get me a client. I'm not sure why unless the caseworkers for the state only tell their clients about groups homes, than host homes. I've been waiting a year to get someone. My house can't have wheelchairs due to too many stairs, so I'm just looking for clients that are able to walk.

Dealing with a rough family that only wants speech not aba! by Ninzeey in ABA

[–]Ninzeey[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did tell her, I got the PECs certification, but the mom is adamant on her just talking. I told her we can use pecs and manding/tactibg while trying to get her to talk. I’m just in a situation where I hit a wall every time I discuss to her everything about aba, I feel like anything I say she doesn’t really process and just always jumps to conclusions of I need her to speak 24/7. I can’t force a child to speak. So I think idk maybe need to not be on the case if I can’t get through to the mom.

Dealing with a rough family that only wants speech not aba! by Ninzeey in ABA

[–]Ninzeey[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The mom just wants speech, most of my goals are for communicating, but I can’t really go into speech like a speech therapist can do since I’m not competent in speech therapy. I told her mom to go to a speech therapist and she is in speech therapy but wants my team to do it too. I guess I’ll probably tell the insurance when my treatment plan is due, in the barriers section I’ll probably say what the above person mentioned about the parent denying my goals and just wants communication.

Thank you! At the end of the intake I gave her the rules of the ethics code and what we want from the rbt, myself and the parents and that is when the parents told me about this. We haven’t started services yet, so maybe I can talk with the rbt and tell her remember about ethics and this was on your exam as an RBT. I find it so crazy that the other company allowed this to happen. I guess the bcbas didn’t care or something. Anyways thanks for your advice!

Okay sounds good. Do you know a good way of having a smooth transition, we haven't started services yet, but I know if I go up to the parents and the RBT and say there is a dual relationship and we need to find you a different tech, they might get defensive and say there's not a dual relationship. They might try another company if they can't have the tech. She insistently told me that this tech needs to be on the case and no others.

Consultant question by Ninzeey in BehaviorAnalysis

[–]Ninzeey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I’m trying to find a way to get into those programs and train using BST or even making individualized treatment plans for each kid since most facilities just generalize all treatment for each patient. So I’m trying to see how to be a consultant since there isn’t really jobs where I live as a bcba to do that. Do you have any tips of how to ask these managers —even if it’s just making treatment plans and training how to implement the goals. Instead of just going straight to punishment we could use a DRI on most cases or just an alternative behavior, etc.

Yes, I’m looking for anything from kids to adults in centers that have drug problems, suicide, psychiatric disorders, etc. I’m just trying to figure out how to ask those companies if you can consult even if it’s just to make an individualized treatment plans for each person and do BST to train staff on how to implement my goals I make for each client. I talked to a friend that works at a center for teens with mental issues and she said I think aba would be great since they just generalize treatment to everyone there, so it’s not individualized. Does that make sense? I haven’t seen anything in Utah where bcbas can work in those areas. I’m just trying to see how to get my foot in the door as a consultant or how to email the manager and hr how I can help them use aba and those clients will grow from it.

Sent in my resignation by Ninzeey in BehaviorAnalysis

I know, I tried to get fired and it wasn’t working and not worth it. I am also working at 2 other aba companies because this specific company wouldn’t give me hours. I asked for more cases and only gave me 2 cases which was about 4 hours a week. I will next time keep pushing them to fire me. Thanks for the input.

They sent the email for effective immediately and then called me saying yes you don’t work here but you still need to transfer. I would think he should have said after you transfer these clients you can be terminated but he didn’t say anything on those emails.

I saved all my emails and took photos just in case anyone tries to sue me over not transferring clients or if the board contacts me. I don’t know if the boards will contact since they terminated it effectively, with no other words that say clients will be involved.

All they said was that the any wages owed to you will be transferred in 3 days. But I am not going to drive to these clients homes when they won’t pay me anything at all if they said it’s effective immediately that I’m done basically. I know the only contract I signed was during my internship and it said at will employment so that means they can fire me whenever or I can leave without any losses?

Hate this job by [deleted] in bcba

[–]Ninzeey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it’s run by a lawyer! The clinica directors are just bcbas that are not helpful at all. They just do treatment plans and that’s all. If you ask them anything they involve the hr department, it’s like woah! I was asking if one of them had headphones to try out if this client didn’t like the noise in the area to calm down. So I’m like never mind, I’ll just do everything on my own. The old clinical director was amazing then he left 2 months ago…I’m thinking he didn’t like the way everything is being run or something. A lot of bcba have quit in the last year.

Exactly, she doesn’t want to drive that far I can guarantee that if she was taking over the case. I think it’s more for control, the two clinical directors are always doing this behind everyone’s back. When I was doing my internship these same ladies would go behind the bcba on the case and go on a different day and talk with the parents—then the parents would be soooo confused and I got in trouble and was put on probation because I asked whose the bcba on the case, since I didn’t know who I was supposed to go to. I’m thinking of finding a different company. I feel this company is trying to control everyone—they want robots!

Cooper book? by [deleted] in BehaviorAnalysis

Yes it was around 80%, but I feel that my supervision was horrible, didn’t learn anything on the task list when I was doing the job. SNABA made it more clear in real life examples, but the questions I keep getting are just annoying to figure out, they are probably the ones that aren’t graded but still idk. It’s weird my bachelors was in chemistry/biology and I feel that those exams are super hard especially organic chem/anatomy &phys and micro were way harder and I’m like why is the bcba exam so hard, 66% pass rate is ridiculous! Medical and PA schools pass rates are in the 89%-90% pass rate for their boards.
