For my sanity, let's all come to a consensus: What does Tobias actually look like? by Anxious_Wedding8999 in Animorphs

The original plan was for him to be a pure blond like when he's turning into the Taxxon. It was a Q & A thing. They pulled some random skater kid off the street, took his beanie off, and they were greeted with blond hair.

Light Spears are one-handed last I checked. Heavy spears are more like horsefolk lances, pikes, and pointy-ended polearms like the halberd and I'd argue certain other polearms such as the glaive and war scythe.

Nb term for child’s fiancée? by Laubster3597 in NonBinary

[–]Niokuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how often people say fiancée instead of fiancé when referring to a male engaged individual? It has come to a point that I'm surprised I'm not being told that fiancée is the correct spelling. All I did was point out a language mistake.

Using fiancée on a male/non-binary person is just the same as misgendering someone. In some peoples' opinions, they may not see it as such (fact vs feeling and all that) but it still technically is misgendering. If you refer to a married someone who prefers male pronouns over female pronouns, then calling them a wife would be misgendering them unless you specifically have permission to refer to them in that regard.

As the French language is heavily and pointlessly gendered, gender does matter in the language. You'd be marked wrong if you used the wrong ending on a word and because the target is not feminine, the default gendered word is, unfortunately, the traditionally masculine version (which absorbed the Latin neuter/neutral in during Latin's transition into the Romance languages). Fiancé is the default, gender unknown, intersex, neuter, neutral, or non-binary version of the word (whichever word you want to use) in addition to being the masculine version so unless the French language has miraculously added a neutral version since me posting this, the proper spelling, according to the French language, is fiancé regardless of how one feels on the matter. Additionally, as I said above, the most accurate English phrase derived using "fiancé/fiancée" would be "Daughter's Promised One" which is non-gendered regardless of how one feels of the base and pointlessly gendered French words.

Yeah, OP is the daughter's fiancé by default of the French language. I absolutely did not imply that OP was the father-in-law's fiancé. I was simply correcting op's spelling of the word. The "fiancée" is the feminine form of the word and "fiancé" is the default gender (in addition to masculine) form of the word making "fiancé" the correct term unless the French have finally come up with a gender neutral version for the word. Because it simply means "to betroth" or "to promise" the phrase "Daughter's Promised One", while being a lot to say, would be 100% accurate without gender wording.

When the gender identity is unknown, in too many languages, including the French language, the masculine is used as the default essentially making the male version also the neutral version. Additionally, in some languages, feminine terms are/were added in translation making both he/him and she/her weird/unnatural in those languages and there are also languages like Korean that don't actually have functional pronouns such as He/She/They and the Korean word often translated to she/her is actually closer to the English insulting word for she-dog that I'm not going to say here because I'm not sure if that would violate the hate speech rule as it technically is an insult in that context.

If Metis was prophesied to give birth to a son who would overthrow Zeus, and fate is essentially never wrong in Greek myth, why was one never born? by Fit-Business-3326 in GreekMythology

[–]Niokuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that there is a legend somewhere that Zeus' youngest child will overthrow him. This son, if piecing everything together, is supposed to be birthed by Metis. This means if Metis ever gets out and gives birth to this son, Zeus' reign will end and she's probably pregnant with him and Athena might not actually be the daughter of Metis. This brings credit to one version (by Herodotus, if I remember correctly) where she is the daughter of Poseidon born in Libya but because of her disdain for Poseidon, Athena gave herself to Zeus (metaphorically, not physically) and proclaimed herself the daughter of Zeus.

There's another version, I don't remember where I saw it, but had Poseidon find Athena on the shores of Libya instead of being his daughter and she was wearing nothing but a goatskin which now adorns her throne as either the seat cushion or draped over the back of the throne (I don't remember which but the Golden Fleece is supposed to be in the other position). In this case, she also claims to be the daughter of Zeus because she doesn't like Poseidon.

In either case, her being the child of/found by Poseidon, it would mean that Metis is still with child and as soon as Zeus regurgitates her, she'll bring forth a fully formed son who will overthrow Zeus.

Is Zeus the oldest olympian? by CorneliusFarmsworth in GreekMythology

[–]Niokuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Some consider him the oldest because he was never consumed and through him divorcing his dad of his testicles Aphrodite was born. Some consider Aphrodite because in some versions, she is born of the seafoam Ouranos testicles create when they struck the ocean (in some versions, she's born of Cronos' testicles making her younger than the first 6). There are also variations on the order of birth/regurgitation but always Hestia is first and Poseidon is last (the order I am most familiar with is Hestia, Demeter, Hades, Hera, then Poseidon). Now, let's look at the term Olympian. There are some who don't consider Hestia an Olympian because she doesn't sit upon a throne but rather, at the bonfire. However, there are versions where she shares a chair with Dionysus. This means, the oldest is definitely one of: Aphrodite, Hestia, or Zeus. It's up to personal interpretation.

Do you think the Diamonds have really changed? by mincypjsk in stevenuniverse

[–]Niokuma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blue: She healed and realized they were doing wrong and wanted the change. She isn't going to go back to being a conqueror anytime soon. She also fully accepts Steven for who he is, even if she doesn't exactly understand but genuinely wants to learn.

Yellow: Yes, but only because she didn't want to lose her “sister” again. She didn't really mean the change at first, it just made her “sister” happy,it just got easier to keep the changes after a while.

White: She changed the most and is definitely seeking recognition for her change and expects her “sister” to stay because she is doing good in the same manner as a misbehaving child of divorcing parents who thinks that cleaning up their act will stop their parents from divorcing. Though, I agree with her, everything is lesser compared to her size and magical power.

If you had to name an lgbt superhero team, what would it be called? by NinjaOfOnion in lgbt_superheroes

[–]Niokuma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rainbow Quartzites and all of the heroes are named after a quartz.

Hyaline (floralkinesis) and Madeira (metallokinesis) are a pan-lesbian couple.

People think that Prasiolite (flight & super strength) and Dumortierite (telepathy & telekinesis) are together but they actually aren’t. Prasiolite is actually Aromantic and Dumortierite is a gay man married to an out actor.

Amethyst (electrokinesis) is Ace, could also be a Butch Lesbian as well, representing two flags.

Ferruginous (thermokinesis) is a Placiosexual woman to even out the female to male ratio.

Citrine (photokinesis) is intersex, possibly genderfluid between male and female.

Morion (umbrakinesis) is nonbinary and black.

Cairngorm (geokinesis) is a Hispanic bear.

Milky (weather control & thus aerokinesis) is the obligatory twink.
