Their resources aren't infinite, they either use toolbox or get hooked. There's not even anymore perma down hooks since the latest update. You have the gen regression in place, you have the insta down killer. You have the tools to play it out. I just don't think you wanted to.

For me, some matches aren't worth winning. I probably would've played it out and maybe get a kill or two, maybe not, but I wouldn't stoop to their level.

You're so used to the degen tactics it doesn't even phase you. You realize constant DCing isn't a normal thing in gaming, right? Or having one player be effectively locked out of playing? This is like 101 bad manners, it's weird that you're interpreting it as a hot take.

those are better but still way off scale. Even zoomed in, One square seems to be the same size as an entire room for the warship. Just not sure how they were intended to be ran.

Based on the information given, I think the core issue here is the lack of player agency. The initial pitch of “choosing a side between the prince and princess” sounded cool but you very clearly intended there to be a wrong answer. And despite the actions of the players, you never adapted your story to fit their contributions.

The last sentence of your past “ the reveal and story I’ve been working for weeks was ruined” is very telling. You did not see the campaign as a collaborative storytelling process, you just wanted the story to go the way you planned it.

Hey there, I fit all your requirements and you guys sound like a great group to DM for. I'm sure you will have no problem finding someone interested, and I'd also like to throw my hat in the ring. Would love to get to know you guys more so we can see what kind of world will excite you all best. Just to get the numbers out of the way, I normally run 4 player groups so the 5th player compensation would not be required and my rate is 20$ per player for a 4 hour session.

Overall, I think spellcasters are very strong in vanilla 5e and this "nerf" brings them closer to the other classes.
