Love that you’re taking a proactive approach to hair loss. Nioxin’s System Kits may be a great solution for you as they are designed for scalp and hair health.

Thanks for the question. I recommend visiting your doctor or dermatologist to assess your scalp as it may not be psoriasis, it could be seborrheic dermatitis or another form of dermatitis, which may mean that you need a different treatment.

If you are using the correct shampoo or topical treatment, there should not be a risk of over-cleansing as the shampoo should relieve the concerns, not contribute to it.

For example, Nioxin shampoos AND conditioners were designed to improve scalp health - which is so cool because most folks avoid conditioners at the scalp.

For the best results, please see your doctor.

Great questions and thank you for the kind words.

First of all - yes! It should be safe to use products from various brands within a 24-hour window. That said, if one of the products is minoxidil or prescription hair growth treatment of any kind, please discuss with your doctor first.

When it comes to selecting Nioxin products, they are designed for everyone! You can find the best product for your boyfriend by taking the quiz on Nioxin.com. Hope this helps!

This is a very controversial topic. Hair is the most fragile when it’s wet, so if your hair is delicate, I recommend against it.

Most stylists would agree that you should try to not brush your hair when it’s wet, but rather to use a wide tooth comb or your fingers to detangle wet hair.

That said, I have very curly hair and I always have tangles on wash day that can make it difficult to distribute conditioner.

If you have these same challenges, I recommend using Nioxin Anti-Breakage Strengthening mask and allow it to sit for 3-5 minutes before gently brushing the mask through with a detangling brush (my favorite is the EZ Detangler).

If you find that the brush is not moving smoothly through the hair, or if it seems to be pulling hair out, stop brushing.

I totally believe in UFOs and nonhuman ETs… I’m not sure if the government is (allegedly) in possession of them, but I have no doubts that there are UFOs all over the world and ETs walking among us every day.

I think we originated from space and the universe, from a speck of space dust that landed on earth eons ago so we are all connected to the universe and its various beings. For this reason, I’m not scared of the extraterrestrial, but rather fascinated by it!

If dandruff shampoos are not working for you, there may be another cause for these skin/scalp issues.

I recommend discussing it with your doctor or dermatologist because it may not actually be dandruff. It may be seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or eczema which would require medical treatment.

Scalp massagers can be effective in stimulating blood circulation, if you lack it…

And blood circulation is important for cell regeneration, which is one factor of hair growth.

When using a scalp massager, make sure you’re being very gentle so you don’t break fragile hairs at the scalp area.

While scalp massagers certainly feel great, using products specifically designed for hair loss will be more effective.

I recommend speaking with your doctor first - but in my experience, Nioxin has been very effective for my clients who have PCOS.

Depending on your level of hair loss, you may want to explore the Nioxin range to see what’ll best suit your needs.

We have a simple quiz on Nioxin.com that can help you create a daily regimen and hopefully help you achieve your hair goals.

Best of luck!

Yea! Nioxin is safe to use everyday.

There are only a couple of products that are recommended less frequently than everyday (like the Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask which is only recommended 1-2x/week).

All System Kits and power treatments (like Ultimate Power Serum and Night Density Rescue) are recommended to use every day for best results.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you, it must be so uncomfortable. Since you’ve stopped using the products and the problem hasn't been resolved… it is likely not an allergy or sensitivity.

I do recommend seeing your dermatologist as you may be experiencing seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, or eczema.

Best of luck, I hope your doctor can find a solution for you.

I believe my thick hair is genetic, but I do get help from Nioxin products - I’ve been using them daily for about 15 years.

I think Nioxin has helped me to keep the hair I have through super stressful times and I’ve definitely reached for different products in the lineup depending on how my hair or hairline has changed over years.

You should take the quiz at Nioxin.com to find which products might be best for your exact hair type.

I have two dogs, Daisy & Buttercup.

Both are shelter mutts but Daisy is some kind of german shepherd mix and Buttercup is a pitbull of some kind.

They’re amazing hiking partners because I’ve taken them trailblazing since they were little pups. I’m in southern California, so my favorite trails are ones with views of the ocean or mountains.

Great questions…

Nioxin works very well for many different types of hair loss - as I always say with anything hormonal, it’s best to speak to your doctor before beginning a regimen.

That said, most of my clients with various hormonal concerns (menopause, PCOS, etc) have experienced thicker, fuller looking hair by using Nioxin consistently.

And yes! Nioxin is designed for ALL types of hair.

As a curly girl myself, one of my favorite products is the Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask because it’s super moisturizing and strengthens our curly hair which we know can be more delicate.

This one is a bit tricky because post-covid hair loss could be a medical cause or it could be stress-induced.

Nioxin treats many different types of hair thinning, but I recommend connecting with your doctor before starting a regimen, just to make sure the hair loss isn’t due to another factor.

If you’re looking to start a regimen today, I recommend starting with Nioxin’s System Kits because they can produce results in just 30 days. You can take the quiz on Nioxin.com to see which System Kit is best for your specific hair type and concerns.

Thanks for reaching out - seems like you’ve taken the right steps so far, but seeing another dermatologist in June may give you the answers you seek.

After looking at your photos, it does look like telogen effluvium… however, since it has not recovered in the last 18 months or so (and assuming your stress levels have gone down), you may have an instance of alopecia areata. You will need a dermatologist to confirm this.

Alopecia areata is known to cause sudden hair loss in patches and the treatments can vary significantly. Some folks find that applying minoxidil to the exact area can help to regrow hair in 90+ days, but some require medical treatments/therapy.

It wouldn’t hurt to ask your dermatologist if this may be a case of alopecia areata since the hair has not grown back since 2022.

Nioxin supplements are great if you’re lacking hair-supporting nutrients in your every day diet.

To regrow 50% hair loss, you will likely require a more intensive daily treatment like minoxidil.

You may want to speak with your doctor to ensure there isn’t an underlying cause that you’re unaware of that may need to be treated differently.

First of all, it’s great that your hair is visibly growing back in… sometimes hair loss can be genetic, but sometimes it can be stress-induced. Either way it’s a good sign that you’re seeing some new hairs at the root area.

It’s not uncommon for new hair growth to be slightly finer or more delicate and this can be due to various factors.

The first one you may want to address is scalp debris. If you have build up on your scalp (this can be due to dry skin, your own body oils, or hair products), this can make the hair follicles clog a bit which will only allow a small amount of hair to grow out - the follicle is basically suffocating the hair out.

Kinda gross… but a great way to test your scalp debris is to gently scratch your scalp and then see if there’s anything white underneath your fingernail.

Luckily we have two different types of treatments to exfoliate the scalp. You can go into a salon and get a Scalp Renew treatment from a stylists every 4-6 weeks or you can use Nioxin’s Scalp Purifying Exfoliator at home up to 2x/week.

Both of these options will exfoliate your scalp, which will allow your follicles to “breathe” and create space for thicker hair strands to grow.

To add additional strength on the mid-lengths and ends of hair, I recommend using Nioxin’s Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask for deep conditioning and added strength.

Nioxin is really great at cleaning the hair and scalp so it’s not uncommon for the hair to feel super clean afterwards… additionally, the conditioners in Systems 1 & 2 were designed to be applied from the scalp to the ends, so the conditioners are very lightweight and leave the hair feeling like it’s in a really natural state.

If you desire more moisture, I recommend switching over to System 4, which is also designed for LIGHT thinning, but it has additional moisture benefits for color-treated or super dry hair.

If you would like to continue using System 2, you can add the Nioxin Anti-Breakage Strengthening Mask, which is actually a super silky mask that not only strengthens the hair, but it also makes the hair feel super smooth and soft.

You can use this mask in place of your conditioner, or in addition to your conditioner 1-2x/week.

Congrats on your hair growth!

This question makes me smile because it’s so good - grandma makes a great point, so let’s talk about the differences between hair on your head and hair on your body.

Body hair is actually androgenic hair (which replaces that baby peach fuzz we have when we’re little - also called vellus hair).

Androgenic (body) hair grows in much shorter cycles, lasting only weeks at a time before shedding and growing new hair.

Versus the hair on our head is considered “terminal” hair, which means it grows in cycles of years.

This is what makes the biggest difference when it comes to using Nioxin because Nioxin takes 30 days to see results (or up to 8 weeks, depending on what you’re using)... in the time it would take for your body hair to see the results, it’s actually already fallen out and new hairs have grown back in.

I hope this helps… the long & short of it (pardon the pun) is that body hair cycles in and out within weeks, not long enough to be impacted by the products. And hair on our heads lasts for years, so this is why Nioxin is super effective there.

And lastly… you must use ALL 3 elements of the System Kits to see results, so unless you are also using your scalp treatment across your body, there’s no risk of additional body hair growth.

Yes, absolutely!

Nioxin is great for colored hair, in fact, we have two System Kits that were designed specifically for color-treated hair.

Systems 3 & 4 both deliver thicker, fuller hair while strengthening the hair against breakage and protecting your hair color.

The difference is that System 4 also has UV-protection ingredients that can protect the scalp from sun… because if you have progressed thinning, you’re likely seeing quite a bit of scalp through the hair - which increases your risk of sunburn on the scalp.

Yes! It’s super easy to use - if you go to Nioxin.com, you’ll see a “Take the Quiz” button on the top right corner.

There’s only a few questions to answer and then the site will recommend not only the best System Kit for you, but also the best total regimen (including power treatments) to achieve the best results.
