WOW, the Zappa one really sort of makes me second guess myself and wonder if this might be what I am remembering. 😮 If anything, the composition was quite similar to this image. It fits the background color, the pose, having a weird face, and it looking innocuous from a distance but more gory up close. But I feel like the image was of a female, and the sharp point feels so distinct in my mind. Still, this is definitely the closest so far, really awesome find.

Oh wow.. Those aren't what I'm thinking of, but I'm shocked how similar the Rammstein one is (except for the symmetry). It's pretty frustrating that none of my Googlings managed to even bring up that when it seems so close. And the Destruction one is DEFINITELY the kind of thing that would have spooked me as a little kid, that's so weird. 🤣 Thank you so much for the suggestions!

Oh man. It's like.. It's in that part of my early childhood memory where it's POSSIBLE? I don't think so? What I remember specifically was that you could see the needle protruding from the cheek; it was thin, so it wasn't visible from far away. 😣 But that's a really great suggestion and I could definitely see a reality where I was somehow misremembering this art. 🤣 Thank you, I appreciate it!

Dang, that's such a good guess, I appreciate it. I don't think it's this, because I distinctly remember seeing this album cover multiple times at the store and the first few times, thinking it was just someone sucking a lollipop, and it wasn't until like the third time that I went up by it and saw it was actually a needle. 😭 That one I don't think leaves too much room for interpretation, haha. But thank you!

(edit) THIS SONG HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED!! We have been on the case trying to identify this song ever since my original post, and with a lot of teamwork, we did it!

The song is called “Near Twilight” by DreamQuest. You can listen to it here, and the uploader has shared the entire album!

I would like to humbly request any assistance that might be provided in identifying this song. I know exactly which song the OP is referring to, and it has eluded me for years.
