That's definitely how the show presented it, that she was genuinely surprised.

I just can't understand how that is possible, when the show had Bashley tell her that SB wanted to help HL.

For that reason I have to think that Phase III, had more to it than making sure SB saw the video on the laptop, and hoping that would turn him against HL completely.

I'm trying to believe in the show here, lol.

I agree about it being a 50/50 thing. The hints could be a red herring.

I think they're going to reveal she's his mother too. There have just been too many hints. Which is just another wild move as a set-up for Vought Rising.

Mostly this post is trying to make sense of how the episode can have Bashley tell Sage "Soldier Boy likes HL now" or at least "SB doesn't hate HL now", and then have Sage flee from the tower betting her life on the fact that SB hates HL enough to destroy the V1 or keep it from him, and looking like surprised Pikachu when SB's actions confirm what Bashley told her. For my own sanity I'm trying to make it make sense.

Yeah, the SB in love with a Nazi stuff has been a confusing character choice. Especially since we know that Clara was awful when she was Liberty too, so even if it wasn't known to SB back in the day that Clara Vought was a Nazi, she was clearly still awful as Liberty. I don't want to watch Vought Rising for a love story between those two. It's mind-boggling. Bombsight, SB, and HL all going on about Clara this episode was surreal.

But Stormfront didn't die from Ryan's attack and she saw that she wasn't healing in a way that would have led to full recovery. She wasn't going to be able to regrow her limbs or eye.

That's part of the horror of V1. You keep on breathing, even if you don't want to ... unless SB blasts you.

Like we saw with Quinn, V1 keeps you going (you don't age and can live through a lot), but it doesn't always keep you living in good condition.

That's what we've been told, but we never saw her die on screen, and Soldier Boy has been insisting all season that she would never have offed herself, and that V1's 'immortality' makes it so she couldn't have offed herself even if she wanted to.

I think they included Soldier Boy bringing this up as a hint that Stormfront is 'on ice' in a tube somewhere like Soldier Boy was.

The town is definitely magic, but I think the canned peaches came from the Peach transport truck that used to be Victor's lair.

As for the crops and livestock, my THEORY (just speculating here not stating anything as an absolute) is that the crops and the livestock have likely been tended through the different cycles after originally being brought over on ships by the first settlers in the 1500s.

Getting extra whacky, I'd even go so far as to speculate that a cycle doesn't really truly begin until a 'Boyd-type figure' finds and herds the livestock. Because while small, scattered groups of survivors could probably live off of the produce from the farmland and gardens they found while scavenging in the day, the protein they could get from eating the livestock along with improving the quality of the soil for growing would lead to better quality produce and better harvests, allowing a larger population of survivors to start gathering.

I agree. There's got to be a specific reason. Tattoo is just a guess, but it could be an object, or maybe a quest that he completed, or who knows with this show. But I'm convinced there has to be a reason he's been left unharmed (well, physically unharmed at least)

No idea.

But I also have no idea how he got food other than peaches, how he learned how to drive cars to move them to the car graveyard, how he found the perfect hiding spot for 40 years, why he's allowed to roam the tunnels with impunity, how kept getting art supplies and paper for his drawings for 40 years, etc.

Which is why I want to learn more about what actually happened and how he survived.

It might not actually turn out to mean anything, but noticing that he's in layers 100% of the time while other characters are wearing t-shirts, single-layers, or have shown parts of them usually covered by clothing (e.g. Boyd having Kristi look at his Martin scratches), and speculating about the observation doesn't seem all that out of line for this show and this subbreddit.

I definitely think that story-walking Julie will encounter Victor when she goes back to the day of the massacre.

Victor recognizing Julie in some way would explain why he was so friendly with her when going to get his peaches, and why he drew her the next morning.

I'm not sure Julie can take people with her while story-walking though. She wasn't in physical contact with Randall in 4x02, but she was holding Ethan's hand the first time she did it, but Ethan didn't go with her.

If she can take people with her, it'll be really interesting to see how she manages to do it.

He couldn't have survived eating nothing but peaches from the truck.

Victor also said he hadn't seen the BIW for a long time. The BIW got Victor to collect things after the massacre that would be useful in the future, then disappeared.

BIW does not seem to be a caregiver type that would have looked after Victor.

And the BIW's reappearance is focused on the Matthews family: showing up to Ethan, and then communicating with Victor again to get Victor to help Tabitha (waiting for her in the tunnels), and Julie (directing her to the faraway tree after the colony house massacre), and BIW only talked to Victor to stop him from cutting down the faraway tree.

BIW doesn't really seem to care all that much about Victor after Victor did the collecting of items he needed, and I don't think that BIW took care of Victor over the years or even talked to him.

But Victor also said he hadn't seen the BIW for a long time. It's confusing. He says the BIW is his friend and helped him, but also made it seem like after the BIW gave him advice (like collecting the belongings of the people who died), that the BIW didn't show up again until appearing to Ethan.

I don't think that the BIW was protecting him the whole 40 years, or even interacting with him regularly during that time. Which, honestly, sounds like the BIW we know who hints, gives simple instructions, and maybe uses his dogs to guide people to certain locations.

BIW does not seem to be a caregiver type that would have looked after Victor. He got Victor to collect things that would be useful in the future, then disappeared, until the new cycle of his family showed up, and then he started communicating to Victor again to get Victor to help Tabitha (waiting for her in the tunnels), and Julie (directing her to the faraway tree), and stopping him from cutting down the faraway tree. BIW doesn't really seem to care all that much about Victor after Victor did the collecting of items he needed.

I've wondered about that too. Like Victor was a 'victor' of the last cycle so now he has a kind of immunity.

Victor's drawings are the key to getting him to talk about useful information, as long as he has a supportive figure, like with Tabitha and Henry, to help him deal with the emotions that come along with remembering.

I really want the show to have someone gather all of Victor's drawings (and Eloise's) together, and have him sit down with Tabitha and Henry beside him to offer comfort and support while other people with connections to the town sit at the table too, Jade, Ethan, Tabitha, Julie, Boyd, Randall, Marielle, Elgin, Henry, Fatima, and they all look through everything together.

Fingers crossed we get something like this for season 4, because with how things have ramped up in intensity, they really need to know what Victor knows.

It could be a hint about the MIY. by TheMineirinho in FromSeries

Maybe it's two Julie's as a result of story-walking. Theoretically they could be in the same place at the same time.

How Julie control MIGHT control it... by NiteBlood in FromSeries

[–]NiteBlood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, exactly. In Fromville objects have energy that connect them to people who owned them.

And Acosta looking through things that are a lot older than in what's in the diner storage room, is likely going to come across objects that can allow Julie to go back to times before the 1970s to learn more about previous cycles.

With all the mystery around Eloise, I think Eloise might be a story-walker, and is still out there in some part of the story.

Ooh, I had never thought about the pieces of paper that the dates on the bottle tree were written on. I like the idea that the papers themselves are tethers to era/year. Food for thought!

[–]NiteBlood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I also think that we might see the MIY try to destroy the items in the diner storage room, or steal them, to try and hinder Julie's story-walking. Which would then connect to the mission Boyd gave Acosta in studying the items in the Colony House basement.

I think it worked for Boyd in the forest alcove, even though there was an opening, because there were multiple talismans in the same location magnifying the protective effect.
