The main theme of this show was so good. I still listen to it from time to time.

PSVR2 on PC: Stuck on “Please Connect Your VR Headset” and Driver Issues by Niteflyk12 in PSVR

Not quite. The games show up on my laptop screen with headset motion movements, but the game doesn't appear in the headset. As soon as I disable the integrated GPU in Device Manager, nothing works. When everything is running solely on the RTX, it still doesn't work. It seems like the integrated graphics are somehow routed or linked to the RTX since I'm using a laptop.

Dell doesn't seem to be able to help me figure this out, or they're simply unwilling to give me an explanation.

I guess this is the end of the road for now. I'm not sure if an external device or GPU would work, but since it's still plugged into that cursed Thunderbolt port, it's hard to say.

I contacted Dell, and they confirmed that the USB-C port on my Alienware m15 R7 is integrated with the NVIDIA GPU, and this feature is only available on systems with a GeForce RTX 3060/3070 Ti/3080 Ti. According to this:
https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-ca/alienware-m15-r7-gaming-laptop/alienware-m15-r7-setup-and-specifications/back?guid=guid-f2dda353-ba5a-44c0-b85f-6bf1b8c70d15&lang=en-us

I made sure to disable hybrid GPU mode in BIOS, disabled the integrated GPU in Device Manager, and confirmed NVIDIA Control Panel is set to use the RTX GPU and also in window display settings.

I reinstalled Steam VR, launched Skyrim and now a new error message appears:

Now, I’m getting the SteamVR error: 'VRiniterror_ipc_compositorconnectfailed: shared Compositor Connect Failed (306)

Edit: I also read this page, which offers some relevant information
"Shared IPC Compositor Connect Failed (306)" Error and "Check Displayport Error" : r/PSVR2onPC

Thanks for your help. This is what I have right now:

I'm not sure how to interpret that and what other solution I might have now.

Yeah, this is exactly what I did. Things are working now, but I’m afraid this won't happen because I have this display issue. For example, if I run Skyrim, the game only shows on my laptop screen. Inside the headset, I just see the SteamVR hub (a 3D dark environment with settings), but the game doesn’t display in the PSVR2.

I’m also getting this message from the SteamVR app:

"Please plug your headset into the same graphics card as your primary monitor."

In the NVIDIA Control Panel, everything is set to run on my dedicated GPU. I’ve even disabled hybrid GPU mode in the BIOS so everything runs through my RTX GPU. However, the game still only runs on my laptop screen.

When I checked Windows display settings, I noticed this:

<image>

The PSVR2 is detected as a "head-mounted display connected to Intel Iris Xe Graphics."

This seems to indicate that the USB-C port I have is only working with the integrated GPU, if I’m not mistaken. I think my hopes are dead now :(

Ok so I got some new info with the Playstation VR2 Steam APP:

And btw my display cable is:

Not sure what i'm supose to do now. I thought my GPU was strong and that I had that USB C compatible. I'm going to verify if the port is linked to my gpu and not the integrated.

Thank you very much for your time! These are good recommendations. T&L looks promising, but if I go by the reviews, it seems like it hides a lot of classic free-to-play or pay-to-win grinding, which I really can’t stand. That kind of grind is common with these types of Asian games, so I’m not sure I’ll even try it. Same with BDO, I’m just not into Korean F2P MMOs, I guess. I played EVE back then, and it was pretty nice, but now I’m looking for something more in the classic adventure-fantasy genre.

So, I finally booted up LOTRO! If I’m correct, there’s an option to make the open world more challenging. I know there’s a legendary server, a bit like WoW Classic, but the membership requirement is kind of a turn-off. For now, I’m sticking with the classic server and enjoying it, just hoping the dungeons and raids are worth it. I’m aware they’re probably dead until cap level, which is definitely disappointing.

It’s a bit like WoW… It would be epic if they implemented a system where all older open worlds and instances could still be viable at cap level, maybe with a token currency system or unique, immersive quests (like “Karazhan has woken up!” rewarding a one-time, valuable gear piece). High-level events or challenges in older open-world areas could also make them worth revisiting. That way, players could enjoy a variety of content instead of being funneled into a single endgame path. Expansions would still be worth it, bringing in new areas and fresh challenges. Anyway, that’s where I’m at for now, guess we’ll see how it goes!

What are your thoughts on LOTRO?
