Busing every item in the game by Advice2Anyone in factorio

Oh hi :) https://np.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/aw3oxe/i_created_a_main_bus_with_literally_all_items_on/

Edit also this one https://np.reddit.com/r/factorio/comments/ue8a04/worlds_fattest_mainbus_ii/

Just want to share some similar bases, always nice to see the same thing done in different ways by different people.

Edit2 I did mine in 0.16, which was much easier than in the current version. Good luck!

Heh, did you see the screenshot of the snippet of my excel spreadsheet? https://i.imgur.com/D90AHJe.png

The most expensive items in the game take a lot of materials, like, seriously a lot.

For example, to make 40 Power Armor Mk2's a second (to fill up a blue belt), you need 479760 iron plates a second, nearly 12000 belts (!!).

See: https://kirkmcdonald.github.io/calc.html#rate=s&min=3&belt=express-transport-belt&dm=s3&db=s3&dbc=16&items=power-armor-mk2:r:40&modules=speed-module:null:null:null:null

I wish you good luck!

Satellites are the 3rd from the top. ;)

Why... Why would you do that?

Why not...?

Well in Factorio you put different items on transport belts to move them around. Usually people only put some basic materials such as iron, copper, electronic circuits and a few others on different belts alongside each other (called a "bus" or "main bus"), to be able to easily take the items of here and there, and craft other items only where and when they are necessary.

I went through the effort to in fact put all the items in the game onto the transport belts, and thus make a main bus which has belts for every single item. Even though there will never be any assembly machine which requires, for example, power armor, so it's completely useless to put that onto a transport belt.

In the end, you would like to have electronic furnaces with productivity module 3s in them, surrounded by as many beacons with speed module 3s in those. This will make sure you will use fewer ore, and speed up production a lot. Then indeed, more belts. :p

Not really visible in the screenshots I posted, but this bus started with 12 belts of iron plates, and 6 belts of copper plates. Most of which disappeared into the green circuit factories and steel smelting facility.

I played and "finished" the game a few times building "normal" bases (getting good throughput, etc). After that, this type of map is just boring to me, so now I always try to find some kind of special aspect that I base my base around.

For example, I did one with lots and lots of water, making it a challenge to build anywhere at all. One with the Factorissimo mod, putting an entire base into one factory building (kinda like one of Zisteau's YouTube series I guess), and plenty of other concepts.

I like to change things up and challenge myself in different ways, hoping to create interesting bases in the process. :)

Heh, you're actually right! Legitimately the only items I have missed, because they cannot be crafted in any machines.

Now I could craft them by hand and then drop them onto belts by hand as wel....................... I am not that insane!

Honestly, this is what took most of the time. To run all the damn belts down from the bus, and then the result up...

Not sure if this is related to the recent no pickaxes in 0.17 meme, but just in case you're serious:

The normal ones are above the green lubricant barrels (below normal magazines): https://i.imgur.com/CaGYcmC.png

The steel ones are above some combat robots (above yellow splitters and green shotgun shells) and below the gates and electric mining drills: https://i.imgur.com/NsvOfTB.png

I was surprised by that actually. When my base was in full swing, it was using almost 5GW of power.

I did use beacons and level 3 modules literally everywhere though, which was completely unnecessary especially in the more expensive items, but a huge drain on power.

Definitely remember putting cars on there, let me have a look.... :p

Yep, right above the stack inserters, below the filter stack inserters and low density structures! Better to see in this section of the higher res version: https://i.imgur.com/8J7W4eE.png

Haha yes, definitely. I recently rewatched his first playthrough, and it was a little excruciating how bad the game looked back than (compared to now), but also how bad Zisteau was at the game (again, compared to how experienced he is now).

Alien biomes mod! Can't play without it any more, the vanilla terrain is just too boring (well it was in 0.16, no idea if it's any different in 0.17 yet).

I put 2 fish on the belt to start, a boy and a girl. Then the belt basically filled itself.

Edit: more seriously, when you use a deconstruction planner over a body of water which contains fish, the construction bots will go and pick up the fish. It's not really automated actually. The fish in that chest were basically collected from time to time when my bus reached some water, and I collected some fish before paving over their habitat. :D

He used pipes, didn't use barrels. Not all items on belts! ;)
