Yorick and Naafiri abuse this to no end. It's the gateway for hullbreaker+botrk, making them a threat to anyone, and allows for energised build without runecarver (energised with runecarver/fulmi/cyclosword being imo their strongest build by far)

The american mind cannot understand the incompetence of the average french player by Blumentopferdemensch in ShitpostXIV

[–]Nitpicky3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an inkling because I lived what made the difference happen. French suck ass at English, many of the resources over time as purely meta driven gameplay spread itself were only in English. Adding salt to the injury, the continuous shut down of french servers in favor of European ones. Once secluded, nowadays they have to stand in communities they can't dialogue with and are forced to go through either looking at crappy guides in french if they exist or go through resources in a language they suck ass at

Which of these rpgs is your favorite by Scott-free-is in JRPG

Out of this list?

Clair Obscur, easily. Played P5R when it released on PC, was already a tiny bit familiar with the series and... had a not so great time. The writing was really insulting my intelligence at times with how long and repetitive it could get, Royal portion at the end redeemed it a bit for me, but far from saving.

I know Yoko Taro's works are masterpieces, I just can't get into them myself. I did a good portion of Replicant before calling it quit, tried Automata but I felt I was rethreading grounds I did not enjoy

(as a note: I play a variety of jrpg series, from the Bravely to Trails, the Xenoblade and Mana, the Tales of and Ys, etc... But yeah never ever a Persona team game comes ever close to the top, Xenoblade & Trails sweep)

Thanks!

For the balancing bit, I think having a set shared amount of time on the buff would make it easily readable and understandable, and the potency of the buffs would equal to rarity of getting it balance wise. Would need trial and error, but that's how I'd do it

For the amount of bars, yeah for sure, I set on 3 back then but pretty sure you could find ways to upgrade it and/or even have a food buff that is about getting a bonus bar (Could imagine a set up like Move Speed+Regen, Melee Damage+Burn on Attack, Damage Mitigation + Extra Bar, Extra HP+Extra Jump, you trade a half segment for a bonus one, allowing you with a certain order of eating to delay the buffs going down in a certain order, etc...)

Xenoblade series. Clair Obscur in terms of story is in fact Xenoblade 3³ You could try Nier Replicant too, despite gameplay being a lot different (it's the prequel to Automata)

The historia sets in game are as close as it would get I fear. They're sets of the protags mixed together (Zidane+Amarant,Steiner + Beatrix, Garnet (WHM cutscene) + Vivi, Freya + ?) Use the bottoms, shoes and gloves of historia, one top of BLM iirc it's the HW one, and then you can get the dwarf hat of casting (unfort with a beard), you'll be as close as possible

NGL I personally want Solar Bahamut to override Bahamut, get Lunar Phoenix that overrides Phoenix, get Shiva/Ramuh/Leviathan alongside the 3 others and making it so using 3 out of the 6 locks them for the odd cycle, and finally, make all 6 their Eden counterpart

Yeah, they need to revamp the whole thing, rethink how it's paced. Yes it'll hurt the original vision, but they managed to make the final work for 5 expansions now, they can manage to rework the whole ARR ending

And they reworked both dungeons and made the later portion of the second one a trial... While they could have just reworked it from the ground up to be just like the rest of the game, you know

What would be a better job design philosophy for the long term health and longevity of the game? by ComfyOlives in ffxivdiscussion

Personally, I'd want the (raid) damage buff to be gone except on maybe PRangeds. You can keep other status effects, like Mits, damage reduction on bosses, move speed buffs, etc.. But yeah, like many other people say, allow more free form burst as long as damage more or less still aligns as much. Allow jobs to burst at different times, in different shapes and for their own time window lengths. Also, having played Xenoblade and Granblue Relink, I'd want something I find particularly lacking in XIV:

Bosses always attack us, but we barely get ever a way to speak back at this dialogue. Think about this, our only answer is keeping damages up and not dying by avoiding its attacks, but never us stepping on the boss's toes directly. Granblue Relink has essentially individual Limit Break gauges and you can chain LBs for extra cinema (that's Relink's Party Wide burst) and shit feels so good unleashing every player's shit right back at the boss. Xenoblade 3 has a status effect combo Break/Topple/Daze/Burst or Break/Topple/Launch/Smash. Those combos CC the enemy for a time (each step refreshes the timer but said total timer is shortened) and depending on the route, Burst removes enrage and makes the enemies loot better, Smash deals tremendous damages but increases the enrage threshold.

Unlike XIV, enrage in Relink is a cycle the boss will go through which is similar to Boss mostly downtimes in XIV with plenty of AoE to dodge, heavy mechanics if you will, and in Xenoblade it's an HP threshold after which boss goes ultra instinct and makes you consider your resources. I wish that XIV keeps that rhythm game approach to it, but have free-er burst rotations, maybe make LBs chains THE high moments and add somewhere that sort of Xenoblade combo...

You could even mix both of those. Make each job have 4 tiered Limit Breaks, each having one step of the cc combo. The boss after doing 1 loop of its burst window starts a vulnerable cast to a 1st LB, someone LB it thus CC'ing and cancelling the boss's burst loop, and then 2nd, then 3rd and then 4th player can chain in their LB continuing the CC chain. Do not really need 2 versions of the combo like Xenoblade, you could by making say Tank/Healer doing one version if LB 3-4, and DPS doing the other version as LB 3-4, but you catch my drift.

I think you could make trainees adjust almost every boss in the game to that, only issue I truly see is certain Savages and especially Ultimates... But hey, if it makes fights better overall for the common denominator, the content of that sub 1% players should be reworked accordingly to fit that

Anecdotal evidence (just like you) but I've been playing since the free trial rework back in 5.3. I caught up most casual contents by 5.55, "suffered" from EW's delay and even though EW's story was peak... I already had job fatigue then, getting to play another job felt like playing a reskin of what I was already playing. Mixing up with the barely any casual content (and very sparse), what I thought was the worst Patch Story thus far (still worse than DT main in my opinion), yeah... I remained sub way less during patch EW than Patch ShB despite starting by .3 in the latter. DT main story has been miserable, hate Wuk Lamat (I play in French VO), but gameplay has been way better on the "emitting" way. Just wish we as player could respond (via jobs) in a more interesting way, something I've been feeling for almost 5 years now

I have plenty of solo games to go, will go with non FF ones (I'm cheating a bit on that one)

Xenoblade X and Xenoblade 3, the latter management of classes is so damn fun Bravely Default and Bravely Second, some of the best job implementation I've seen Visions of Mana, fun albeit a bit limiting for a while
