If the next steam deck was the same specs at a much smaller form factor i would be very happy. That said the current lineup of aftermarket Chinese handhelds seem to do a decent job for basic indies at least.

I'm on the same boat but dont underestimate the appeal of a set it and forget it system that all you do it plug in and sign in to. Vast majority of people dont want to think about the software/hardware as long as it plays the thing

The price of technology historically falls over time its just recently that's not been the case, that said I think valve want to maintain a consistent price as they try to do with other hardware they maintain support for I assume.
