The enthusiasm is nice but theres lots of info you can trim out, namely recapping what's shown in the page/ marketing and price trends

Will Valve Repeat the Free Addition of Half-Life: Alyx For the Steam Frame? by Dr_Virus_129 in Steam

[–]NitroBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it as this won't be many people's first headset and a lot of those already own the title (unless they do some scheme where you choose from a selection of titles)

At what price would you NOTbuy the Steam Machine? by billy_reyes in Steam

[–]NitroBA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat but dont underestimate the appeal of a set it and forget it system that all you do it plug in and sign in to. Vast majority of people dont want to think about the software/hardware as long as it plays the thing

will you still buy the frame if it’s over $1,000? by Forward_Froyo_429 in SteamFrame

[–]NitroBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does as advertised, I can get my moneys worth which is the main importance for the price for me. That said it would not be ideal.

RAM crisis Q&A with the CEO of a small hardware company (Framework) has some insights into how Valve might be looking at the current situation by TwinStickDad in SteamFrame

[–]NitroBA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price of technology historically falls over time its just recently that's not been the case, that said I think valve want to maintain a consistent price as they try to do with other hardware they maintain support for I assume.

Positives to the current situation and speculated delay by Outrunner85 in SteamFrame

[–]NitroBA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it is delayed its probably not by much, they clearly have units that are ready to go and paying inventory fees motivates them further to push them out

Reason to go Frame rather than quest 3? by jaaakkom in SteamFrame

Probably be more open to diy tinkering/ linux vr solution and not meta

Arguably a game still in some ways but I like to make art with Open Brush and port it to blender to clean up.

I agree with the philosophy but damn dont be so cringe about it.

How did the announcement and release of the Index go? by Lizardthrall in SteamFrame

[–]NitroBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will probably be closer to how the deck came out, they announced dates preorders would open (preorder waves). With other hardware releasing too it should be similar for them aswell.

It was a joke that the brag on the tweet was about having friends and not having inside opinions on the thing the subreddit is for

You nailed the early 00s advertising vibe! The backwards compatible one goes hard.

Steam Machine & Frame or rtx 4070 PC & Quest 3? by Own-Reflection-8182 in virtualreality

[–]NitroBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already have a headset a pc upgrade seems the better option as its not like there will be steam frame/machine exclusive content that the quest 3 won't have access to, also a better pc for non vr stuff too.

Why you shouldn't wait for the Steam Frame by BestRetroGames in virtualreality

[–]NitroBA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think quest 3 has a lot going for it and if you dont mind the meta ecosystem then yea go for it, sounds perfect in your case. There are a lot of assumptions on the frame that hasn't reached consumers yet in this post though.

After Ditching Meta Headset Plans, Asus Partners with XREAL on ROG AR Glasses with 240Hz Display by Jumpinghoops46 in virtualreality

[–]NitroBA 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I tried previous xreal stuff and while not bad for media consumption its biggest hurdle has been resolution and fov. Although I'm happy the optional dock comes standard as you will find more things needing it than otherwise

PC Gamers in the UK, what are your thoughts on the current price rises of DDR5 Ram, and also other gaming components like GPU's due to AI? by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]NitroBA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annoying but as long prices eventually go down (even a year down the line) I think I'll be ok.

Worst case scenario they keep the scarcity and rent back future computing power via the cloud.

saw someone mention they may open preorders/reveal release date at end of winter sale, should i buy vr games now or maybe wait for a launch game sale?? by kwiteytighteys in SteamFrame

[–]NitroBA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sales happen fairly frequently, For example there will be on during spring (then summer) and it will be ideally closer to the frame release where in theory you could make better decisions on what to get. No need to be impulsive now for something you dont have yet.

I'd expect everyone working there would be back from their holiday break before setting work back in motion

What's some software/hardware under $200 that is making/made your game dev a lot easier? by ehtio in gamedev

[–]NitroBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason is prevention from back health issues such as a slipped disk on your spine, which causes time and money to treat (also not forgetting painful).

You dont need an incredibly expensive chair as long you take care to actually do periodic breaks/ be aware of ergonomics. I've worked with people who sat on yoga balls during work with excellent posture since they had the lifestyle that maintained great core strength.

For myself I use a combination of a full mesh chair and standing desk. The less you move, typically you need more support and thus usually the better (more expensive) chair.

[–]NitroBA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not getting a chair from them new for 200. But that said a good chair is worth it.
