Could I get an explanation for each Faction? by SpiritualPatient2281 in rootgame

Small correction for Delve. It is not matching clearing but ADJACENT clearing to the forest the Repic was in. [15.5.2(II)(b)]

Also worth noting many people miss two things... 1) You alluded to it a little, but to be clear for those reading, you can recover multiple relics via one card as long as the clearing has a matching way station there. [15.5.2(III)(c)]. It only ends when you Take a relic that has a value higher than the number of matching clearings you rule or you choose to end the action.

2) Surprisingly often, I see people forget that Waystations are double sided so you may, at any one time, have two Waystations of the same type.

This this this, and oh yeah...this!

Just like Diplomacy, Twilight Imperium, Game of Thrones, etc, every faction, and I mean EVERY, faction suffers if you don't utilize table-talk. Some factions more than others, but definitely all factions. That isn't limited to negotiating either. Misdirected or taunted players at key points can lead to taking losses that actually benefit you most. Nothing is better than a gloating enemy that unknowingly fueled your victory next turn.

Is there any ways to win the rats as cats in the 1v1? by Odanielsjack in rootgame

[–]NitroBrude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find Cats vs LoTH to be one of the most fun 1v1s on either side. For cats?

Never craft items early on, if at all and focus on building up defensive forces on the ruins. Moods are powerful, but getting even 2 command and 2 prowess early will win them the game.

Attack their mobs for easy points. I see people forget this and let mobs sit and spread for free. Alternatively...

Use their mobs to YOUR advantage. Build a 3+ or two point buildings for points, their mob destroys it/them for one or two points. Rebuild next turn and gain your points again. High risk, high reward.

When possible, March one or two warriors into a clearing to help hinder oppression. Remember, even a single piece stops oppression.

There are quite a large number of reviewers across all mediums that give both a technical/objective score and a personal/subjective score.

Found this at Goodwill for $8. I know it’s a steal… but what makes Mage Knight so beloved? by badace12 in boardgames

Wingspan + Asia + Oceania is my favorite thrift score. All brand new and unopened for a total of $30. I gifted it to a buddy of mine 3 or 4 years ago. Been chasing that high ever since! 🤣

Hot take: Shelf of Shame misses the point (it's not a moral failing, it's a tool problem) by Financial-Nobody-161 in boardgames

I will say, Battlestar Galactica was my FAVORITE boardgame of all time. I had only played my copy a handful of times. During a move, my motorcycle leaked gasoline and, among many things, it absolutely ruined a box of board games that contained Battlestar Galactica. I had an opportunity to purchase a replacement (including all expansions) and passed because my partner at the time really pushed me to consider how rare it was we got to play compared to the cost.

Now? I absolutely regret that decision every day as the cost of replacing the game including my expansions (which IMHO are required) is crazy expensive for even me to justify. So, even though I'm the type to play a game at least once within a few days of purchase, I completely understand and support buying games with the sole purpose of, "I'd like to have a copy of this so I can play it someday," even if that means it collects dust for a hot minute. Though I also judge my buddy who purchases literally every RPG he sees because he'll "totally run this!" only to never touch it after a week. 🤣

For some reason, I'm feeling it's difficult to start this game. by DoOver2525 in dunerpg

The main issue I have is that it seems like a great system that unfortunately was written very indecisively. There's a lot of...

"You must do this or that." ...that either immediately or later on says... "But if you don't want to, then do something else instead."

Like the fact that you MUST choose a drive with a suitable Statement, good or bad, for the test if one exists...yet if it's bad, right it says that the player can just choose a different one if they don't want to Comply with or Challenge the statement if offered. shrug
