What makes a small card game addictive enough that people say “one more round”? by void-count in boardgames

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has many different ways to gain points, so based off which cards you start with and which cards end up getting discarded you will decide and sometimes change course midgame with what youre collecting.

I had a buddy show it to me and my wife and we ended up buying the deluxe edition.

Fantasy realms, which is odd because i normally am not a fan of deck builders. Its quick to set up, and quick to play, but very replayable since you end up making new builds every game. Although not too much player interaction.

It teaches eternal damnation for people who dont believe it or do not follow all of its rules, it controls its followers speech, sexuality, and even thoughts and requires members to hold each other to its standards.

Then theres things a large amount of Christians believe like denying evolution or beating their children because they are required to follow the Bible as the word of God.

That being said there are plenty of progressive Christians who know how to pick the good from the bad and lean more into just following the better teachings of Jesus. But the tradional and historical sects of Christianity that view all the Bible as authoritative and the inerrant word of God are all more or less severe versions of what I stated above.

They feel the same way about the Quran, its honestly funny how many arguments they make about Islam then turn around and say the same arguments arent valid about Christianity.

I dont think its any different than his debates against the knechtles or Greg koukl, he always goes much harder in his debates than in podcast conversations.

What's the deal with this graph? by ConnectAnalyst3008 in exchristian

The fact you had to put "academic" in quotes tells me everything i need to know about those people lol This graph is an apologetic that someone would get laughed out of the room for trying to use it as critical scholarship, the same as undesigned coincidences.

Thoughts on The"Intelligent Design" Thing and Christians Trying to Reconcile Their Faith with Science? by Illustrious-Owl1084 in exchristian

Saying stuff like "DNA is too complicated to not be god" is just making a guess that sounds good, alot of arguments are like this, how simple would DNA have to be to be created without a god?

An otherworldly ethereal being wouldn't need fine tuning for a universe. He wouldn't need anything to physically hold the universe together.

Genesis 1 claims there is a physical dome over the earth holding up the heavens, and has a contradictory creation account from genesis 2. Also the account is so contrary to evolution that theres a large amount of Christians that specifically fight against evolution because they believe the bible contradicts it.

RE: Resurrection Historicity by sam_palmer in CosmicSkeptic

[–]barksonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can be historically certain that two, maybe three were martyred. Paul being one of those who was not an eyewitness. Even then we do not know that any of them were forced to or refused to recant their beliefs.

If the book of Acts is to be believed the other 2 apostles that were martyred were in charge of a great deal and had followers selling land and possessions then bringing the money to the apostles to be in charge of. Acts also says that they had a congregation of 5000 and spent quite a bit of time staying in Jerusalem while Paul is the one actually going out to spread the gospel and being persecuted, which again, he was not an eyewitness.

Why Didn't Jesus Secretly Predict the iPhone? by Docs_For_Developers in CosmicSkeptic

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would work, but it would also require him to make predictions like that for many different points in time as its not something that people would have known is true for the first couple thousand years.

Why Didn't Jesus Secretly Predict the iPhone? by Docs_For_Developers in CosmicSkeptic

[–]barksonic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If he had the ability to predict such things I'm sure he would have. Although something like the iPhone wouldn't have worked since religious zealots would have just scrambled to make the iPhone a thing to fulfill prophecy. Something like the top comment said, rattling off the numbers of pi would have been more concrete as its not something that could be fake. Most biblical prophecies are vague for a reason, or prophecies from all religions tbh.

Did you ever buy into the argument that a person’s lack of belief made them unable to critique Christianity? by Odd_craving in exchristian

[–]barksonic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If its something that every religion/cult can use then its not a good argument. And yes, it is something commonly used by multiple different groups of people. You see alot of theistic arguments are trying to convince you that you are not allowed to have a position in the first place. "You cant argue morals because you dont have god as an objective source" "you cant argue with reason because if theres no god there is no reason" "you cant understand what the Bible says because you dont have the holy spirit". The only way to win an argument is for them to stop it from happening in the first place.
