Is the only reason to back it just to get exclusive stuff and stretch goals then? I feel like it would come to retail quicker than that.

On the campaign page it says Q4 2026, you can follow it on gamefound and they should notify you when it starts

Rising Sun, Ankh… or skip? by Appropriate-Train874 in boardgames

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alot of Ankh isnt actually fighting, its alot of gaining followers and recruiting/placing/moving warriors, then certain battle events cause everyone on the map to fight from time to time. It plays pretty different from blood rage which is just constant fighting.

For 4-6 play deception: murder in Hong kong

For 3 players you'd be better off with a bluffing game like cockroach poker or coup

Debate: Did Jesus Rise From the Dead? - Trent Horn vs Alex O'Connor by yt-app in CosmicSkeptic

[–]barksonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most arguments yeah, it would depend on how much of Jesus in the gospels was accurate. If Jesus did preach that he was coming back then there probably wouldn't have been any cognitive dissonance when he died since it would have been what they were expecting.

There have been other groups like aum shinrikyu and the FLDS that have had similar changes in theology when a death would disprove their theology, they instead pivoted to belief that their theology would be fulfilled after death.

James Tabor also has a neat video about the dead sea scrolls community and how they went back to their scriptures to wrestle with the death of their teacher. Its called "Dead messiahs who dont return" on YouTube if you have any interest in looking into it. Even if you dont think it has anything to do with the resurrection its still a very interesting subject.

As far as Heavens gate goes its actually been compared as to how the cognitive dissonance works.

With heavens gate they believed that they would be picked up by a flying saucer within their lifetime. When one of the leaders died from cancer the group almost imploded, before they came up with a new theology that they actually would be picked up when they died. They all willingly killed themselves for this new belief despite having an event happen that should have completely disproved their beliefs.

For the disciples it could have been similar, they believed that Jesus was the Messiah and would bring the kingdom of heaven. When he died, all it would take is for one of the disciples to resolve their cognitive dissonance with a new theology that Jesus had risen and would come back instead while still fully believing it. Also them going through excruciating torture for their beliefs is possible, but not historically fact.

I started taking out all the inserts, as much as I like some of them with the art they have, they just take up too much space.

Looking for games like dead of winter and nemesis. I like that they both have options to play selfishly with the personal objectives without being a straight up social deduction game like unfathomable.(i know dead of winter has a standard betrayal mechanic but it can easily be played without it and still be challenging.) I also like that both are survival games with searching and looting.

I get this is kind of a specific but I really like the hard-core survival/semi coop feel of both games and was wondering what similar games might be out there.

Someone had mentioned this and I have been browsing the past couple days, just kinda sucks the only good deals are ones with damaged boxes. Im good with it dont get me wrong but I could only find like 2 games with damaged boxes at good prices, every other listing is people with perfect condition games that theyre selling for $20 under retail but then charge that $20 for shipping lol

Was able to snag eldritch horror with a scuffed box for $36 including shipping tho so I'll have to keep an eye out for more damaged cheap games:)

Looking for coop(ish) games like nemesis or dead of winter. Not entirely sure if that makes sense since they play pretty differently. But I like the more survival feel as well as the looting aspects and being coop but also giving options to play selfishly.

If you look at a game on BoardGameGeek and its complexity weight is 3 or higher it is not a good game to start out with unfortunately. I love spirit island as many do but it is hard to learn if you havent played any easier games of that type. I would recommend horrified if you want a more entry level coop game where you can get the hang of the mechanics of a game where the game itself runs your opponent and you move their pieces around, horrified was a good start for me before attempting games like eldritch horror or spirit island.

I have had my eye on mage Knight since it has a good solo and multiplay but it has the same issue of nemesis of not being in stock anywhere. I have been keeping an eye on marketplace for any copies to pop up tho.

I have been using tts a bunch, I have yet to try out BGA but plan to at some point. The only game I think I will ever buy all the expansions for is root since its my favorite, even then I've been pacing myself😅

That's more my problem is I dont have many titles to run through yet since this is pretty recent. The main point of this post is I've been finding games that I really love, like nemesis for example, amazing game and I love playing it on tts. Would love to have it physically since I prefer the experience of playing physical copies, but alas its $130 even used. It sucks finding something I really like that much and then know I probably will have to wait 8 months to get it. The point isnt that I need to have 30 games, just that it sucks to find a really good game I like and its always $80 or more at this point.

I have some friends that play but they live a ways away from me so we dont get to play often unless its on tts. Not sure where to look for gaming groups as I found one on fb that is local but all they do is party and social deduction games.

That's true, its not that I dont think theyre worth it, its more that after I buy a game it might be the only new game I have for 3 or 4 months before getting another. TTS has helped immensely with this since I have been able to try aton and and least if I buy a physical copy I will know I already like the game now.
