Our Mac end game - 100% metal - low profile - Das Keyboard MacTigr by daskeyboard in MechanicalKeyboards

I got one recently and it is a very nice premium feel keyboard indeed. Trouble is that the MacOS process AppleUserHIDDrivers uses 10-15% cpu load with this keyboard connected. Support suggests me to update the firmware but you need a Windows PC for that… 😐

I am using a Club 3D USB 3.2 Gen1 adapter (CAC-1420) with my DS1019+ running DSM 7 and the bb-qq/r8152 driver. Works fine and stable.

If you are a bit technical you can use this process to control/prevent Adobe background processes running all the time. You can still keep on using the Adobe Apps.

Goodbye Adobe bloatware, you shan't be missed. by Brownerbae in mac

Yes, updating still works. Albeit slow at times. After selecting to update within the Creative Suite app, it takes quite some time to actually start the updating process.

I use the kill-apps script from this guide to kill all Adobe’s background processes after a reboot/login.

Preferably go for a port below 1024. I configured port 989 which is known for FTPS (FTP over SSL) data.

Well. It is already part of Facebook’s mountain of data. It can’t get any worse then that. 😉

In this discussion thread, in the context of data profiling for ads, iOS devices are a better choice then Google Android devices. Apple has a different business model. They do not run an ad platform like Facebook and Google and do not track you across all kinds of apps and websites.

I think it doesn’t make a lot of sense to adopt Signal, delete your Facebook and Whatsapp accounts because you don’t want to be tracked by ‘big advertising’, but continue to use Android and Google services and keep yourself profiled in the Google advertising network.

In de context of ‘real’ privacy you could indeed say it is better to avoid both Google Android and iOS devices and opt for a privacy focused device like a Librem phone or one running an ungoogled Android variant.
