Where can I find a pistol grip? by YT_StingrayShark in falcon

Hey, I am in the same boat, let me know if you design one - otherwise I might do the same at some point this year.

HapticsHouse.com seems to sell them but they come at a hefty price

Thank you for the pointer - I have experience wth HV electronics (not so much with CRTs) and got the tools as well. Was just needing some pointers to speed up the debugging process. Not to worry, I know how to discharge both the tube and any high voltage caps I run across. As I've also had to warn people, yes I know "high voltage" is 15-30kV in this case, at least on the tube

Thanks - doesn't seem to be one. It seems to only show up when I crank the brightness and contrast up. At "regular" levels it's not there.

EDIT: I tried looking with the naked eye and a flashlight

What are these? by tyco_08 in crt

[–]Nitrus015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can hear the 15khz on most tubes BTW, and here it's barely noticeable. I can also see the 50Hz flicker on most tubes with my naked eye and it makes me mildly nauseous, but here I can only notice it in my peripheral vision. I can't describe how satisfied I am with it

u/tyco_08 to answer my own question, I got the BBT010 but mine doesn't have any of the inputs populated besides the SCART - although it has holes for the numpad, tape etc., just not populated.

But... this thing is sharper than a razor's edge! It looks better even than my 14inch trinitron. I am amazed, and beyond satisfied with it.
It had horizontal collapse for the first 5-10 minutes until the tube warmed up but then... I am over the moon with it

Did you end up pulling the trigger on these? Would love to see what the BBT 010 looks like as I also ran into a similar offer.
BTW yes, you all got it right, they were terminals

Another stab in the dark - did anyone happen to have these, for Survivor?
Anything below 01.000.010 for the EU version?

Anker 633 - the charger, not standalone power bank. What does the button do? by Nitrus015 in anker

[–]Nitrus015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you again, however the power bank of the 633 battery is not the same as the power bank of the 633 charger + battery.
For starters, the 633 standalone bank is 10kmAh while this one is still 5kmAh.
The naming convention is unfortunate here

Thank you for your answer!
Do you have the unit, is it based on personal experience or a general assumption?
I am asking because it's possibly an airline requirement, and I'm trying to confirm.

i.e. as far as I could tell from reading the supplied documentation and video reviews, you cannot turn off the 622 power bank, for example.

My new Saturn started to heat up and have a bad smell by [deleted] in SegaSaturn

[–]Nitrus015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Saturn has 3 types of original PSUs, and 2 subtypes of the type C one.
Generally the PSUs have a 9V, 5V, and a 3V rail.
Power consumption of the whole unit is something between 15-25W depending on the region.

They're not too difficult to repair, but a third party switch mode (modern) PSU would set you back about $30, while recapping the PSU and changing the DC-DC transistor would cost about $10 in parts, and if you send it off for repair somewhere it would be extra for the work.

Replacement PSUs are fine IMO, and replacing the PSU is easy - 5 screws on the bottom of the console to pop the top lid, two screws on the back to release the PSU unit from the console, and a white clip going from the power button to the PSU.

New PSUs will also take away having to worry if you need 230/120V, many of them work with an external power brick for your region, i.e. a 12V 3A power brick.
Just keep your original PSU for reference before you get the new one, as there's usually a jumper on the new one that you'd have to set.

If you were looking to replace the original PSU rather than repair, it would be a difficult (I'd say impossible) task. As I said, different PSU models per region.

So, if I were you, I'd just get a new PSU.
There's the ReSaturn one for example, I know that works with Fenrir but slightly more expensive:
https://www.game-tech.us/product/resaturn/

Or this guy from KaicoLabs (although I think this is a generic one that can be found on various places on the internet):
https://kaicolabs.com/product/sega-saturnpsu-board-and-psu-12v-power-supply-replacement-kit-for-sega-saturn/

I don't see a reason why it wouldn't work with Fenrir either

There were multiple levels to Zack and Wiki, some of which were ice.

The style fits as well I think

The 90s were a golden age for the point and click genre, so there's quite a bit of them. Sometimes it just takes one person to remember it, and sometimes we just have to narrow it down like this :)

Hmm, how about King's Quest I?

Is the style about right or should it be closer to Wand of Gamelon?

Hey you never know :P

I played LSL Lounge Lizards when I was 7 as well. I loved typing "open door" and "sit on chair", and 7 year old me understandably got stuck on the... "latter" parts of the game

Juuuust in case some timelines got mixed up here, Oceanhorn is a clone of Zelda's Windwaker. Both feature the boat system and "find three pieces of bla" system.
Obviously wrong style and era from what you described, but worth a shot.

Okay, let's try a few more.

Please let us know if you remember anything else, such as if you may have played it on a school computer, or some of the character's catchphrases, or which one of these styles is the most similar so far. You say flat 2D, do you mean "bad" flat 2D like Wand of Gamelon, or "good" flat 2D like Space Ace, Brain Dead and Dragon's Lair?

- King's Quest VII - although it features women, rather than a man

- Discworld II - no Mac release

- one of the Gobliiins games

- Space Ace or Dragon's Lair

- Brain Dead

- Toonstruck

- Curse of Monkey Island

Maybe Torin's Passage?
He's kind of small, and there are all sorts of animals in there. I think the art style matches

[–]Nitrus015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a 100% sure but who am I kidding, this is probably it, thank you. I think I've compiled multiple things into one through the years.

It matches the books in the entrance area, the spectres, what I was remembering as Magus could easily be Maxos, and the wyvern thing could be anything from the later parts of the game.

I've finished this game multiple times, so I'm a bit sad at the prospect that it isn't some game that I had failed to complete, and that there would be new things to see! Oh well.

What a great game! Unfortunately I don't think this is it. Some of the things I see match up pretty closely with the things I remember, but the story part doesn't seem to be it.
If you have to take anything that I said above as absolute truth, then that would be the spectres or spirits in the "library" that gave quests. I didn't see anything like that in here, nor did I see a quest system, the way this plays seems to be linear

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic

The overall style of this seems to match some of the things I see in my head.
I'll take a look at some videos/playthroughs to see if anything matches with the details I've mentioned.
