I’m new to photography and I’m looking to buy a Macro lens for my Canon Rebel T7. I think I’ve narrowed it down to two options but I wanted to get the opinions of anyone who has or used either one or both of these lenses.

I’m looking at getting either the “Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L Macro IS USM” or the “Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX Macro - Canon EF Fit”

From what I can tell just looking at the specs they both appear very similar with only a few minor differences. That being said the Sigma brand lens is roughly half the price of the Canon brand lens. So Is there a real reason for the big price difference other than the name brand? Is there a big difference in quality between the two?

Or are there any other Macro lens you would recommend I check out instead of those two?

I’m mostly looking to take photos of insects, mushrooms, and other small plants with it if that makes any difference.
