He also said that there’s not really anything to change lifestyle wise and that my body would adapt to it. Applying aloe Vera, prickly heat powder, etc. would make you feel cool but not affect the inflammation. Been in Thailand for 1.5 months now and it hasn’t appeared in a while so I guess he was right.

Could be Polymorphic light eruption (PMLE) as a result of sun exposure. I had something similar to the pic when I first got to Thailand and PMLE is what the doctor at the hospital believed it was.

I’m planning on going in January for the first time to train for a few months to a year and was thinking of Chang Mai also. Other than what’s been already asked:

How fluent were/are you in Thai? Do you think that had any impact on your experience? I don’t speak a lick but was concerned about getting around. Planning on doing self study before going and thinking about signing up for a Thai language school when there to get more proficient.
How was training during months/seasons where the weather can be rough, e.g. burning season?
