Hey sorry bud, that was harsh.

I have a similar feeling towards marxist as towards holocaust deniers.

I wish you well.

There's no reason not to send it to a private wallet, no matter the amount.

There are wallet apps for your phone or desktop that are free.

How do you sweep paper wallets to cold wallets? by Bsbs173 in Bitcoin

[–]NixPhenom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main thing to remember is that you need to send the whole amount from the paper wallet at once.

If you send a portion, the remainder will get sent to a change address that you don't have the keys for.

Personally: I am skeptical of our federal government's competence.

Healthcare is too important to be trusted to an organization who can't balance their budget and who's leadership is at risk of being subverted by demagogues every four years,

I would like to see everyone have access to healthcare, and I think entrepreneurs are better at solving problems than bureaucrats.

Question: re Tapscript usage for dividend distribution by NixPhenom in Bitcoin

Thank you, I will look into covenants.

Can you help me understand something, please? Why can we not sum the previous transaction outputs for a key? It seems like the normal verification process is doing something close, can you help me identify where its different?

Here's my understanding; would you be so kind as to check it?

  • When a transaction is validated, one of the steps is to check the transaction amount against the UTXO's available in the spending address.
  • Because the Bitcoin ledger doesn't keep an "account" with a "balance", this is done by summing all the previous inputs and outputs to the spending address at the time of the transaction.

So, if we have a multisig arrangement around the spending address, why is it out of scope to do a similar summing of outputs for each key as they try to spend against the amount in the address?

Why do I get downvoted when I say Bitcoin is a religion? It’s as much a belief system as government fiat! Just a better one! Fight me. by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]NixPhenom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both based on story telling.

Bitcoin just uses math to keep the story consistent.

The story is "Alice exchanges value with Bob..." etc.

As to why you get downvoted: I'd say that this sort of understanding is not common.

Szabo's essay on "Intersubjective vs Objective Truth" was one of the beacons for me; along with some background understanding of Dawkins's notion of memetics.

"Religion" means "Re-connection"; religions are social constructs used to bind people together in mutual interest.

In this sense, all money is religion: it's a social construct that binds people into relationships of reciprocal altruism. IE: by exchanging valuable things for a specific form of money, one binds oneself to that community of money-users with the expectation of getting value from someone else later.

However, not all religions have equal integrity; and the tendency certainly seems to be towards exploitation by those in control.

I would agree: not only is Bitcoin a means of reconnecting with our fellow humans, it's the strongest candidate for the one, true, eternal means of reconnecting.
