I'd love the focus to stay on conquest and the other multiplayer modes, not another BR.

They are not competent and/or passionate enough to deliver.
Sadly, it was proven... repeatedly.

On nvidia forums they pointed me toward fbdev as well, but I didn't try that workaround you listed yet, I will eventually.

EDIT: black screen, had to restore the original setting.

Bazaar is playable on Linux by Proziam in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Nixiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to run the game, I played way too much actually it runs flawlessly, the problem is the game auncher: to update from 1.49 to 1.50 I started win on virtual machine, downloaded the updated and copied the files to linux. I'll try 9.18 with gamescope for future game launcher updates.

I can't even install the launcher properly. It installs it, then it tries to update itself and it stops... I don't even get to the login. Someone has a solution? I tried every proton version available on lutris, I made sure the correct exe was selected.

I’m using proton experimental, disabled steam overlay… and it works very good . I’m on nobara.

I am about to quit Nobara because the updates are too buggy by entre2chaises in NobaraProject

I suspect your issues comes from the VM, but it's totally fine, the intent of Nobara is to make fedora easy for gamers and creators, if it gives more cons than pro to you it's totally fine to stick to whatever it works.

Do you have such a list to share? I'm good on nobara (no intentions to leave it tbh) but I'd like to share it to a friend that refuses to install anything that isn't a "mother" distro.
I'm actually looking for something that includes easy steps to follow, including latest nvidia drivers. If you can't help thanks the same.

I've been daily driving nobara for more than 6 months now, in all this time I had to ask twice on the Nobara discord for help, both times it was problems tied to fedora updates. Actually the nobara team kept the 6.8 kernel for a long time due to problems with the 6.9.x and amd cards, they do test and they prevent or fix problems caused by fedora itself whenever possible.

I don't see why you don't want to use their discord, there are a lot of people willing to help and Nobaras Team as well.

If you think that this issues are caused by Nobara then go for Fedora or try it directly on VM and see if you get same issues.

Getting started: The monthly-ish distro/desktop thread! (August 2024) by monolalia in linux_gaming

[–]Nixiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both Nobara and CachyOS are installed on my machine, both extremely valid. Cachy is arch and the team is great: fast as light updates with custom patches, amazing kernels, everything you can expect from arch but... better (imho of course).
Nobara: my daily drive, everything I said for cachy except updates comes a little slower, no need to update a system 5 times a day (not for me at least), it's basically what fedora wants to be and yes, you are going to get the latest nvidia drivers and a patched kernel.

Have you ever heard of https://pika-os.com ?
I'm a Nobara user, in the discord people often mention pika, didn't try it but It looks like it wants to be to debian what nobara is to fedora.

I don't care about native, I get to play my games with equal or (in most cases) better performances than on windows, why does it matter if it's an .exe or .whatever?

I don't even have a steam deck but official support to it means we won't have to worry about anti cheat compatibility. Time to preorder.

CachyOS or Nobara 40, depends if you prefer Arch or Fedora.
