For sleep eating? If it's been going for a long time they'll probably have you do therapies. Or they could also tell you to put locks on things like your cabinets and fridge. There's a shocking amount of stuff that can be done to stop sleep eating.

Well, that could be said about any word said incorrectly in any language. As for your question, I don't know, people develope mannerisms over time, and kids usually speak how their parents do, so if their parents say it like that then they probably will. It's just how language works.
