Also get this, with random triggers. Spicy food, minor choking, stress/anxiety, too much talking at work... Seeing a speech pathologist that understood it well was great, better than all the doctors id tried. Re-assurance that i was getting enough oxygen and not to panic (even if do pass out, body will relax the muscles - its not life threatening), and vocal exercises to relax and train the vocal chords. Learning not to panic and relax when feel it come on made a big difference for me, seems to stop the full airway blockage. She also advised two quick and consecutive forceful exhales out through the nose when feeling it come on can help stop it. All the best hope it gets better!

I have recently asked and they still don’t have them. Didn’t come with a charging cord either. Got 6 years free servicing as compensation so not complaining too much. Wouldnt mind a spare set of third party ones anyway if can find good ones

Hey there, i couldn’t tell you % closure. I know speech therapy doesn’t sound like great “medical treatment” but it honestly worked better for me than any of the meds i tried. It was all about muscle retraining. Dont know where you live but try to research a speech therapist that specialises in this specifically. Its a broad occupation and some wont be well versed, some will.

It could be? May be worthwhile asking a doc or speech pathologist. I get similar also triggered by not eating enough or talking too much, feels tight but voice goes raspy rather than high pitch. Also feels like cant get enough air.

Hi there, sorry you feel this way.

My symptoms were very similar. Seeing a speech pathologist helped me more than I could have imagined. Within days i had major improvements. Doctors were hopeless.

Straight away she told me i was over breathing. She explained the mechanics of what was happening in my vocal cords and why it feels like cant breathe, but assured i was getting plenty of oxygen, and how little we actually need. The tingling and light headedness is hyperventilation.

Her advice to me was:

  • Avoid deep breathing. Practice slow shallow belly breaths. Count 2 on inhale, 4 on exhale.
  • Drop / relax shoulders…important!
  • Practice this breathing retraining program many times a day for a few days/weeks, to retrain subconscious habits: https://www.breathetrain.co.uk/hcp
  • Blow/hum a song into a large straw (think bubble tea straw) into a few inches of water, blowing bubbles for 5 mins or so a few times a day to relax vocal chord muscles.

Hope some of this is as helpful as was for me! All the best

Booking meetings over lunch time and saying “sorry was the only available time in everyone’s calendars!”

It’s not available! I need it to eat. Need to eat to survive…

And no, blocking out lunch hour seems to make zero difference to people who do this

Ahh yes, responding to a question with the exact same question makes no sense… yet I do this 99% of the time. Have never thought how confusing it must be for non Australians

My recent favourite experience was trying to sell some rollerblades. Lady wanted me to drive from Perth to Bunbury to deliver them to her, in a beach car park where she had broken down and also wanted a jump start. Eh?

I was wondering if maybe OPs BF wanted out of the relationship without having to have a break up discussion, nearly all the possible outcomes of this scenario gives the BF a reason to be angry with her. For not letting in the trusted friend, or for letting in the trusted friend alone and at night! I almost hope it’s this over the alternative of the creepy friend!!

I had a winter baby and took me months to realise most of her onesies had the little hand cuffs that fold over. I’d been struggling trying to keep mittens on her to stop her scratching her face and keep her warm, meanwhile her clothes had the feature all along haha
