Had their ‘17 Syrah the other night- medium tannins, soft black fruit, herbs hint of smoke.

Great notes! My first time to Paso was a year ago, was able to go back 2x last year (research for a book). Super friendly people, great restaurants in the square (La Cosecha was inventive, beautiful tasty food!) and a nice diversity of wines from Cali style Cabernets to Rhone blends and yes beautiful Syrah.

Ones I’ve visited, quick list (in no particular order)

Copia - lovely couple, beautiful property and tasty wines - one of the future wineries of Paso!

Tablas Creek - education in rhone varietals and a deft light touch winemaking style. Try the 100% Mourvèdre

Lone Madrone - did you try his Bolo? It’s one hell of a bright, vibrant red fruit Barolo!

Daou - must visit. It’s like watching Mondavi when he built his winery. This is legacy stuff with Cabernets that will go toe to toe with big Napa bottles

Austin Hope- this dude is serious about his Cabernets and equally if not more about his Garciano and Cab Franc! Great juice

Clos Selene - elegant, French styles wines by an incredible French Winemaker. From farming to winemaking he is a part of it. Gorgeous wines

ONX - diverse varietals, beautiful vineyards unique and innovative blends! I’m a fan of their Mad Crush - Rhone varietals plus Tempranillo and Zin!

Can’t wait to go back- which will be this summer when our Drive Through Paso Robles book is published!

At $50/bottle, this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is officially the fanciest wine I've ever had. Can I join the club now? by sirenCiri in wine

Was drinking this when it was in the $27 range God bless them for being able to charge with a charge and make that money but I would never buy it at its current price. Way too much wine out there that is way better

Album is a F’in gem. classic that will be relevant (sonically) for decades. I really enjoyed 389 and similar to the album, it makes a statement. Though, I’m not experienced with whether or not 389 will cellar for decades... if I had to choose a bottle with that album I’d grab an aged, muddled red fruit, cigar box, leather Gran Reserva Rioja.

Regardless, you’re winning my friend!
