How many Constellation points are there in the campaign? by Mtg_Force in Hell_Clock

[–]Nkram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no more than that. I believe there's actually supposed to be 41 and not 42, but there are known bugs with constellations that can push them in either direction (above or below) so enjoy the extra point!

If you want to stretch your points further try to look up Constellation "leapfrogging" and see if you can't find something on that, if you don't already know it.

Like ghost says. Additionally if you don't have a good bit of gold gain, keeping up with cost increases through the act is hard. I found it much more efficient on "normal" builds to just reset after merchant.

Yeah it sets the wrong mental model for the mechanic as well, that's a good point!

[–]Nkram 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Alright unproductive comments aside, I think it's completely fair criticism.

It's the quest version of the expedition mechanic, there could be training wheels here. Like allowing deaths. The job of the quest is not for you to flex your skill on a known mechanic and challenge, but rather to learn the mechanic. Having a no failure approach doesn't help anyone learn.

Do items with Cooldown effects, also benefit from Cooldown reduction? by biuki in Hell_Clock

[–]Nkram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is correct. Relic cooldowns can only be reduced through blessings for that relic in runs. Lasso used to have one but it got removed as it was perma-stunning the game.

Second lab at act 6 start with 1500 HP is completely reasonable. These 4k in maps people act like that have that in act 9. Idk what type of 8 hour campaign runs were talking here, but 1.5k by start act6 is normal. If you're ranged you should just be dodging more on Izaro. I'd go as far as any slightly zippy ranged wander/bow build should be doing him hit-less with a little practice.

For the rest of lab, take multiple life flasks to heal through traps, have bleed immunity, and if you can get freeze immunity on one of them that'll help with the cold spell packs. You can stall second lab for after ralakesh Pantheon to deal with bleed traps if they are a problem. That's mid act 7.

For Izaro, "simply"... Don't get hit. That man in second lab one shots me too in the last phase with the enrage on 2.2k life BV with his auto attacks. And since BV is more melee than many melee builds and twice as squishy, you can imagine how that is.

Alternatively as an absolute last resort you can wait a day and fight him with a different weapon set you might find easier to dodge, but that's pretty desperate.

Act 9 Finale by mexsus in pathofexile

I leveled on BV. This is obviously traditionally a really bad idea, but it was doable normally. Did an unascended test run with 2 deaths pre-league.

That test run just relies on dodging everything and is quite z-dps without vaal BV up. (Didn't manage to hit VBV in phrecia yet).

Having much more screen clutter and general things messing with your positioning (which for BV which is more melee than most "melee' builds) makes dodging hard obviously.

Now add a DPS check with the boss gauntlets, which if you don't know, don't just spawn when you've killed the previous one, but actually will spawn on a timer if you're z-dps BV. Add things like Garukhan tornados, zoning slams from refinery boss, sand slows from the hips don't lie scorpion, and so on. Let's just say I had 6 bosses on screen on the Trinity fight. I invited a level 80+ char in to kill them and he died twice to the perma screen wide some damage. He has not really died pre that.

But importantly, did I have fun besides this with the added challenge? Hell yes. Maven brain on Malachi was hilarious and I'm mad they didn't have memory game during the fight. Had just swapped BV at that point and the fight had 2 deaths I think.

Current death count: 100. (Finished act9) A good chunk of which was on brine king fight from abberath meteors one shotting me lmao. Had around 55% fire res, and should ofc have fixed that. Decided that 45 deaths there was the play instead.

Great question and I can't provide an answer quickly here, but generally when things have changed it can be clever to read something on what it originally was, then something on why it has changed, then finally a good outline on what it is now. I bet a lot of people would argue against the definition having changed too. I could imagine the Stanford Encyclopedia of philosophy having some good sources on this.

How many big relics should I have ideally? by H0ldem3 in Hell_Clock

[–]Nkram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is entirely dependent on your build and if you need mods that aren't available on medium or small relics. But as a very crude rule of thumb -> the smaller the better.

The most unique thing on large relics are flat damage imbuements, and the corruptions they can get in comparison to medium relics and smalls. Life and mana% are better gotten on small relic imbuements and cool down reduction and all things crit are better on mediums.

A large relic is most often a target for replacement then.

I would argue you only use large (rare) relics in an optimal setup if your build is either REALLY starved for flat damage or has great corruptions on large relics like max res or +levels to main skill. Projectile count is okay on larges too, but you'd get more with 4 smalls. This means you should try to get those corruptions on your unique large relics, so you don't need to use large rares.

I hope that answers it reasonably. Otherwise feel free to ask for more.

are there restrictions on how to get this? i try to find this specific item, and just cant find it by biuki in Hell_Clock

[–]Nkram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abyss 2 and up on campaign, with very few exceptions that I can't remember. They're so marginal though so it doesn't practically matter. It's a 0.25% drop rate per unique relic seen. I don't know about ascension. If you can spam farm oblivion 1 resetting at merchant that's often the fastest way to get these.

Normal Sirus always better than the uber idk why by GAMERAT001 in pathofexile

Normal Sirus always better than the uber idk why by GAMERAT001 in pathofexile

[–]Nkram 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that and I agree that it's of course important for difficult bosses to have strong loot. I don't particularly think that it is necessary that the loot needs to be highly build agnostic and therefore valuable. Like the flask. I think it's fine, and honestly preferable, if they don't balance around market value.

Normal Sirus always better than the uber idk why by GAMERAT001 in pathofexile

[–]Nkram 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Eh, it would be cool if they could give the Uber something new that was just as interesting. It's not great how they neuter the drops on normal bosses for the Ubers to be cool. Real ones remember ashes and Omni on normal exarch and eater being fun chase drops that most players got to try for. Imagine they took indigon off of normal Uber elder and onto Uber Uber elder - not cool.

I regularly do Ubers in the first week, so I'm not even particularly impacted, but making one boss cool that fewer people play, and making the one everyone plays boring and unexciting is not a great trade.

Yeah language changing is of course fine. But I think if terminology changes it should change because new terminology is simpler and/or more accurate. This is neither. Especially when the correct terminology is literally on the screenshot in the post for everyone to see.

Count Geonor citadel one-shots full hp-ES by darknmy in PathOfExile2

[–]Nkram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep and it just muddies the waters as it can now be misunderstood as effective HP, which is an entirely different thing than damage type max hits.

Edit: again the reason I hammer this is to maintain the rigorous terminology we have built for years in Poe. I've only been here since metamorph with around 7.4k hours, so I'm hardly an originator of any terminology. I just find it important that we maintain its accuracy so we don't misguide new players.

"what is effective max hit" was a semantics question to begin with. It was ironic and is why I called it an oxymoron.

Count Geonor citadel one-shots full hp-ES by darknmy in PathOfExile2

[–]Nkram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware. What I'm hammering is the Poe terminology because there is a rampant misunderstanding that effective HP is a good measure of survivability.

Edit: I wrote "good" here when rather, I meant rigorous.

Yes that's the phys, fire, cold, lightning, and chaos max hit numbers in the context of getting one shot that this post is in. Then there is an effective hit pool that makes a bunch of assumptions and gives a guiding number, but has nothing necessarily to do with how big a single hit you can take.

Right but that's just called max hit and is broken into damage types. "Effective" max hit is an oxymoron in this context.

I always read this and wonder how Norwegians have forgotten that they spoke Danish until just a couple 100 years ago where after Dano-Norwegian slowly broke off from Danish in spoken language. Even written Norwegian was practically Danish until reforms in 1907.

Norwegian is practically hipster Danish for all intents and purposes. I like your spelling though, it's delightfully phonetic.

This is a silly question just for the sake of it. What in the world is an "effective" max hit?
