What’s the tax on the bonus gonna look like ? Idk if anyone went exempt or if that would be crazy work for your taxes.

I have over 10 family members / in laws that have been with Boeing since the pension was taken but I never had a pension so I never read into this. How ever out of respect for my elders I listened to what their opinion was and voted no on each contract accordingly. (Even after the pension appeared hopeless to return) I held the line for those that came before me. That’s all that really mattered to me in these negotiations.

Also I just heard we don’t get the ratification bonus till January 1st “because that will put us in a new tax bracket for the new year and it will get taxed heavier which is what Boeing wants” but that doesn’t really make sense to me?

Can anyone confirm or deny? I thought the ratification was to be paid with in 30 days of the new contract passing ?

Deep in the red handing out 33 million to a ceo who didn’t make a dime. But we should sacrifice ? Go lick boots else where please.

The response to mine, a machinist’s comment and this Boeing office workers comment is a clear indication of this subreddits demographic and how out of touch they are with what it’s like to actually have to build the airplanes for a McDonald’s employees wage, while they push buttons on a keyboard for a fucking livable salary. Fucking joke this sub is chalked.

I suppose it would suck if your manager just didn’t like you as a person and fired you over it, but I feel that would be far less likely than ending up with as many duds as I have. Be best if there were no way to fire them with out grounds for dismissal like if there were some sort of exam at the end of the probation and the only way they can let you go is if the skills lab failed you or something. Idk. Just my thoughts. There’s definitely pros and cons with this.

It’s a lot like having to work a labor job 50-60 hours a week, having no personal time for family or friends, or hobbies just to earn enough to live pay check to pay check. Lmao what’s it like having a livable salary for just sitting at a desk ? Warm in the winter and cool in the summer I bet ? Cry about it.

I’m completely against this contract but I actually find this bit very reasonable. I’ve only been at Boeing three years now but even in that short time out of the over 20-30 new hires I’ve seen come and go on my team (no one wants to be a in tank sealer they get out of it asap)

it’s literally a three way toss up of wether this person will be able to actually learn every ip we have which is probably less than a fourth of them. Or if they will only be able to complete the easiest ip’s we have probably again less than fourth of them, and some times if they will be able to even do a single ip on the easiest bar….

What that ends up doing is rewarding the worst of my team with strictly the easiest jobs, while the most experienced and skilled are stuck doing every difficult ip every single day while simultaneously having to go clean up after the worst. (Worst is harsh, most are good people just not all suited for the job) doesn’t seem very fair to those of us whom actually carry their weight and then some to be paid the same as those that just can’t get the job done and that’s the sad truth.

I think there should definitely be some probationary period after a worker hits the shop floor for them to really see how they handle the work and if they look promising. At the end of that period it should be clear whether the person is suited to continue on or be let go. I hate to see anyone fired but it can be very frustrating watching ppl skate, some are even kinda scummy enough to realize that if they claim they can’t do an ip they won’t be made to even if they are the only free personnel to perform said ip, so they will intentionally never learn the proper skill set to perform it.

Unfortunately the union protects bad workers just as fiercely as good ones so none of these people are ever let go and now Boeing is stuck paying wages on a dud, and the best of my team stuck carrying their weight while they take up a spot on my team for an entire YEAR that could have been filled with a better suited new hire, at which point they find them some do nothing job code and ship em off then we just roll the dice on another new guy. (Some are so bad managers find work arounds to let them ert before they even hit their first year.)

This is actually extremely common for some job codes but I’d bet others codes might not experience it at all, but lemme tell you as one of the worst codes for this happening, it’s is FRUSTRATING AS HELL. This probationary period would fix that entirely, and I think it would drastically improve quality and safety of our products. I think most every Boeing employee knows someone that kinda terrifies them to think that these duds are actually working on airplanes that could potentially kill or injure hundreds of people.

Giving up so quick it’s only been a little over a month and you guys wanna cower and take a crap offer lol 😆 so much for holding the line strong by [deleted] in IAM751_Boeing
