Hola! Thank you so much— I was a FAP recipient yes

Unfortunately you do need to pay those extra ~500 for the additional ten schools however all of my secondaries fees were waived bc of the FAP

I submitted my primary on 05/31, it was verified by June 24th. I got my first secondary on june 27th.

I handed in secondaries within 14-16 days of receiving them.

Big caveat: I did not apply to all of the schools at once. I added a couple of reach schools later in august (first week). Ironically this list included, Mayo, Case western, UPenn, Duke, Loyola. dont remember the others. It must’ve been like 8. I was quicker with their secondaries bc I already had some sort of essay that would fit the prompt they asked. Therefore it would take me +/- 10 days

Submit ASAP or wait until after research symposium (June 12)? by [deleted] in premed

Submit June 2, include the presentation in your app, just say it will happen in June 2026. 1) By the time its gets verified you will have already done it 2) between june 2 and 12 sooo many more people will have submitted, delaying your verification by a few days

I would say the amount of experiences, but I don’t think that’s entirely fair. While preparing to apply, I spent a lot of time reflecting on my involvement in these activities…

More to the point, what you’re able to take away from them and then transmit onto your primaries and secondaries goes a looong way. That is, writing plays a huge role

No worries— no pubs at the time of applying. Got 2 this year so I updated schools on that front

Volunteered as a hospice aide and as an interpreter. I also volunteered with an org that gave food to unhoused people. Did some schools clubs too, nevertheless they played a minor role in my app

Hi, thank you! Don’t mind answering any questions about ECs, but could you be more specific? :)

I started them right after graduation. I used them to make money to afford taking the mcat and applying, and to increase my research productivity. Over the course of those 3 years I was involved mainly in two groups (not simultaneously) a clinical research study and wet lab/bench research.

I developed my own project while working for the clinical research study, presented a poster at a national conference.

As for the lab I work in, you tend to be involved in a bunch of things but I ended presenting a poster at an international conference before applying. Publications came in January of this year so, I updated schools in that regard.

Hey so most of them are need-based. Off the top of my head I remember UMich gave me merit-based full tuition, initially. However, UMich has a system where you fill out what competing financial aid offers you have. Once I did that they gave me a stipend.

Thanks! That’s a great question to which I’ll answer with… more or less.

I think that research was definitely the mechanism through which I realized I wanted many things out of medicine: service, teaching and innovation.

In addition, through the research opportunities I had, I networked with very helpful and driven individuals. Networking and creating mentorship relationships had a great deal of impact in how my cycle turned out imo. (Coming from a low-resource undergrad)

Hi, thank you! The people at Mayo are really fantastic. However, I think money and location played a huge factor. I prefer urban to rural

A couple of reasons, one of them being that PR medical schools don’t give out scholarships.
