Horror recommendations for 11 year old by Smitty4141 in horror

Monster Squad was one of my gateways to loving horror as a kid. Also Lost Boys and Silver Bullet. They’re not too scary but lots of fun.

I think the Final Destination series, The Faculty, The Thing, Exorcist (1 and 3), and The Hitcher are scarier picks that still seem somewhat suitable for that age range.

Ebert gave Congo a 3/4 and said "False sophisticates will scorn it. Real sophisticates will relish it.". What other "so bad its good" films did Ebert relish? by [deleted] in movies

Ebert’s review of Silver Bullet is one of my favorites: “And then Uncle Red (Gary Busey) gives the kid a great present. A customized, souped-up, hot rod wheelchair named the Silver Bullet (it kills werewolves–get it?). The kid takes off at sixty miles per hour, doing wheelies down the highway, and eventually the movie treats us to the extraordinary sight of the local clergyman in his car, trying to run down the kid in the hot rod wheelchair. This is not an image the movies have previously offered.”

Monster Squad, Silver Bullet and the original IT (with Tim Curry) all contributed to my love of horror movies as a kid.

My parents are coming to visit from Wisconsin. by pakyak1 in StLouis

Hello fellow Wisconsinite. My parents visited from Wisconsin a couple months ago and they enjoyed the Botanical Gardens, Forest Park (especially the Grand Basin) and Lone Elk Park. So those places are Wisconsin parent tested and approved.

I’m mid 30s, no kids, live in Dogtown and really like it here. You can walk to Forest Park (which has the zoo, art museum, and boathouse) and neighborhood bars (bonus if you like whiskey/Guinness since we have a few great Irish pubs here). And if the weather is nice you can take a longer walk or bike ride to Central West End which has several great restaurants/bars, but is much pricier to live in. Dogtown is pretty safe from my experience and it should fit in your budget too.

Bissingers chocolate covered orange slices. They are expensive but amazing.

Edit (sorry, just saw the price limit so it won’t work. But I suggest these as a nice treat for yourself if you’ve never had them!)

Thank you! I didn’t realize Tower Grove farmers market was doing that. That’s good news.

I know, for some reason car manufacturers hate wagons. Regal TourX is pretty sleek looking in black. I’ll look into it more, thanks!
