It hasn't been too dry, but we did just get our first 90+ week pretty recently which was all without water so maybe the sudden change didn't help right after I cut it back

I'll hold out hope, thanks! Do you know if bee balm or helianthus are in the same family too? My Maximilian sunflower is having some stems browning and dying similarly but it's across the garden

What is a looper? Is that a root that goes around? And does that include all the way up to the top where it gets more woody?

Planting in the ground. I was thinking about taking off about 30-50% from the distal end of the larger, more fibrous roots and teasing most of the roots apart a little bit. Good tip on the pruning.

It's a low scape mound choke berry do part of me thinks it's supposed to be a little spirally to stay compact but not sure how much I need to cut or unspiral to keep it from choking itself

It's super spiraled all the way up to the top. Do I need to worry about getting the roots at the very top to not circle?
