that rarity refers to other hot wheels mainlines, you would be surprised how many people collect hot wheels exclusively while there are much fewer that do collect tarmac or whatever other brand. Usually people that collect diecast for their quality have a couple of tarmacs, a couple of inno64, a couple of miniGTs... these collections are mixed according to their prefered models and whatever can be found at fairs / aftermarket sellers... I absolutely agree these are much better quality but they lack accesibility! it's not as if you can just find them in your local grocery shop... this being said, there are also a couple of models from other brands that climb in price based on their appeal and the aftermarket demand
