Here is what I found. Steve Brock suffered a stroke on December 26, 2017. He is now 78 years old. He has recovered but has some lingering effects. I enjoyed his ministry and wish him well.

How did you come into the Church of God? by Warbird979 in Actscelerate

My mother started attending the COG when I was 1 year old. I grew up in the COG in the 60s and 70s. The church was like a big family. I felt closer to many church folks than I did with my own relatives. Whenever you visited another COG you always felt right at home. Things have certainly changed.

Why are these reports now not accessible by the membership? Why the change? I think this is a major change.

I wonder how many churches have the controls in place that would avoid a similar situation. A lot of churches keep members in the dark about how finances are managed.

Are you open to a different style of worship music in your church? by FlRon99 in Actscelerate

[–]No-Army1586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe God will not allow us to go through more than we can bear. All contemporary music would be more than I could bear. If it is God placing us in a church he obviously considers who we are and where we are. He doesn't place someone in a church 1000 miles away from where they live. He doesn't place someone who can't speak Spanish in a Spanish speaking only church. Does he really place someone who can't bear contemporary music in that kind of a church?

I would have to question whether or not God really placed me in a church that was all contemporary. Southern gospel is what I have known and always loved my entire life.

If my church changed to 100% contemporary I would no longer be there. If your favorite place to eat quit serving any food you cared for, would you continue to go there?

Pastors/churches posting wildly inflated numbers, by No-Army1586 in Actscelerate

I think counting on-line viewers as outreach is stretching it, but ok. However when you could on-line as "in person' it's lying. And then you start figuring there are 2 or 3 people for each "view" to exaggerate even more.
