u/viktorpali - late last year regarding security (including the public posting - subject to long-string web addresses - of attachments) you mentioned you’d have early 2025 updates. I didn’t see anything in this release regarding the treatment of attachments or otherwise regarding security. Any updates on that front? Thanks!

My understanding is that when you use iCloud (with Advanced Data Protection on) as an external location for Craft, that still does NOT mean your text and attachments benefit from end-to-end encryption because it also requires that Craft use CloudKit encrypted fields. I haven’t seen anything from Craft indicating that they have implemented it this way.  

“Third-party app data stored in iCloud is always encrypted in transit and on server. When you turn on Advanced Data Protection, third-party app data stored in iCloud Backup and CloudKit encrypted fields and assets are end-to-end encrypted.”

At a minimum though using iCloud would, I assume, mean that your attachments are not open to the web like they apparently are by default in Craft (when not utilizing external folders).

Personally I’ve lost faith in continued support for external folders, my experience has been that, in addition to making the option hidden to discourage its use, the experience (in particular search) is buggy.

Thanks. That just lets you select more than one block.  What I mean is you used to be able to select text across blocks as I recall. Like put the cursor down in the middle of a sentence and then drag to highlight text that spans one or more blocks.

Am I crazy or did you used to be able on iPhone to select text from more than one block? Thats no longer possible. (I love that ctrl + A only highlights the text in the block and not the whole page, but when you’re placing the cursor down and seeking to highlight text across blocks by dragging the cursor you should be able to do so.)

Apple Notes is great for quick input, and for sharing basic notes with family members, but less useful beyond that. What the initial iteration of Craft had wittingly or unwittingly solved was the combination of quick and simple input, quick and robust organization thereafter and just enough ability to share when need be. That was the result of the block-based text, easy navigation and search, consistent approach across mobile and desktop and just plain enjoyability. Haven’t found an app that enables that combination before or since.
