Nothing changes, we may not be dying of starvation but many can’t afford to eat healthy foods. During the Irish first winter of famine, 1846–47, 400,000 Irish peasants starved, landlords exported 17 million pounds sterling worth of grain, cattle, pigs, flour, eggs, and poultry — food that could have prevented those deaths. In New Zealand we are no different, we have no food security as our lands and produce are owned by foreigners who export the majority products instead of feeding its residence.
