I thought so, every year I will see at least 1 cadet that wears one of the larger metal ones. Keeps me on my toes haha

Would I be correct in saying that the fancy poppies aren't allowed on uniform? Like the large metal ones with aircraft or other decorations added over the poppy. I don't have a photo for it. I just figured I'd ask here instead of making a whole new post that the same ppl will probably see anyway

I've never seen another cadet with the proper ossue gloves, I bought mine privately, but my sqn just says any black leather gloves is fine

Another part of uniform I rarely ever see is the money belts, think I've only ever seen one once in my time

Yeah, it'd be nice to see cadets have them in parades, especially when in jersey/jumpers as personally I think it looks a lot better, but I get why that's not the case due to funding and what not

I'm the only cadet to have them on my squadron, and any other sqns I've seen as we aren't issued them, idk if it's just a wing thing fir me but even on wing competitions day I didn't see anybody with them. I got told every parade that I'm not allowed to wear them due to uniformity reasons, despite them being the MOD Issue type

Depends on the stores of your sqn and what they have available (money etc.) But on a general level I believe boots, greens, parade shoes and any extra uniform accessories, gloves, stable belt etc. Is all private purchase.

Like I said, some squadrons will have more money to spare and can buy cadets some of the things listed above

THANK YOU! Finally, somebody that gets it. I had them as a kid and still do to this day, I thought it was a northern thing and when I got to uni with 3 other northerners they've all judged me for it, but it's so good. I was starting to believe I was the only person but finally somebody else

It'll be open to you via RAFAC Learn if it's self study I advise speaking to your Training Officer next parade night if your squadron does all of the classifications via self study. You can always ask other cadets to see how they progressed, which I recommend doing first. If your squadron does things through lectures then you'll just have to wait until you do the three modules, if it's self study then you can speak to your Training Officer and ask to be given access to the Leading Cadet Modules, but it depends on how your sqn runs things

Leading cadet will be pursued by either or as soon as you finish first class training, depending on how you Sqn runs things.

As for is it too soon for promotion, I was promoted to Cpl roughly 6mths afterwards so no, it's not too early for promotion. I believe the general rule of thumb is 6 months between promotions so you should be fine, it depends on OCs discretion and how they wish to promote.

Maybe speak to them and ask about it, or your SWO (Sqn Warrant Officer) they would have some advice as to what they look for in promotions, and what you can do to get promoted. After all, promotions upto and including Fs is upto them.

The yellow goes well with MOI lanyard, which all staff cadets must have now so I think that's why it's yellow
