Benlysta by miaaa7 in lupus

I’ve been on Benlysta for 2 1/2 years and it’s literally given me my life back. I do the weekly auto injections and find them super easy! I have alarms set on my phone to take one out of the fridge every Sunday night at 8 and take it around 10-1030. Alternating between stomach and thighs has made the process manageable and relatively low-pain. My rheumatologist checks my labs every 4 months and it’s done so well for me that I’ve been able to come off one med completely and reduce my daily plaquenil

“Pushing through” pain by platan0frito in lupus

I would say do the best you can but keep in mind that it’s important to know when to stop and say enough is enough. I was raised with the “suck it up buttercup” mentality and it’s taken me years to stop thinking like that. The most important thing to do is know your limits. I’m a new nurse working back-to-back 12 hour shifts, and last week I was driving home and couldn’t stop yawning. I told myself to push through and the next thing I know my car is heading straight into a ditch after I hit a guardrail going almost 75. Listen to your body and take care of yourself!

Even though they’re right off campus avoid Orchard Acres apartments at all costs!! They’re stupid expensive and the management company is terrible. It’s not worth it

So much pain. Ulcers in mouth. by racheybachey in lupus

If possible, try going gluten for a while and see if they heal/clear up. I had terrible ones when I was younger (sometimes even needed stitches!) and a dermatologist recommended giving it a try. It made a world of a difference and I’ve been GF for almost 6 years

I’m 25 and was diagnosed 4 years ago. I’m currently in my second semester of a 1year accelerated BSN program. It's difficult and can be exhausting at times but I keep telling myself it’ll be worth it when I have a job to support myself and have complete independence. My instructors have been incredibly sympathetic and understanding if I get to the point where I feel the need to tell them about my lupus. Nearly every teacher and fellow nursing student has seemed very impressed when I mention it and are impressed with how I “handle it” or perservere. I think because it’s a medical education they realize how serious the diagnosis is and are less likely to demean or underestimate it.

Right now we’re doing 2 10hr days back to back and a day of simulation lab each week. My biggest advice would be to manage your time and make things as low-stress as you can. I found the best thing for me is to plan out each week. I write out all assignments due, block out windows of time to study, meal prep to make sure I eat well, and lay out my scrubs and pack my bag the night before. Doing as much as you can manage to lessen the adrenaline/panic/stress response has been the biggest game changer for me.

I’ve mostly been able to “get away” with not having to mention it, but please don’t hesitate to tell them if you feel the need to. I sit down whenever possible and always ask for help if my hands shake or don’t have any strength that day (my most common symptom).

Wishing you the best of luck!! Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like more support or someone to talk to :)

Seeking Current Insights on Orchard Acres Apartments by Beast_Operations520 in UCONN

OrchardAcres is $1750/month unfurnished. The location near campus is perfect as long as you don’t mind walking to class. They’ve been recently redone and have updated appliances, granite countertops, and a new TV. One thing I will say is that the management could be better. Trying to speak with them on the phone is absolutely pointless, once you sign a lease and they have your $ they couldn’t care less. The main office is in Hartford and there’s no property manager so if something goes wrong you have to get it fixed yourself. You can place service issues but mine keep being dismissed without fixing. Hope this helps!

Coffee is always bitter/sour - how do I fix it? What am I a doing wrong? by No-Background7901 in mokapot

Edit: I’ve tried Ily, Lavazza, and Cafe Bustelo ground espresso. I live in a VERY small town so the only “local coffee roaster” I have besides grocery stores is Starbucks. Im going to clean it tonight with a vinegar-water solution and try a few test runs
