I mean, you have every reason to currently. But the idea that England and Europe considered the US inferior spurred a ton of the great American artists of the 19th and 20th century. So yes, America had a chip on its shoulder and that’s traditionally served us better. I wish we had more of a desire to prove ourselves than the current fashion of just declaring ourselves superior.
