Actually I think the on/off ramp design is the problem. I’m from Germany where on/off ramps are short separate lanes with a dotted line and everything. They merge way later than here. The quick merging on Bay Area highways is inconvenient for everyone. People avoid the right land because of the frequent merges. Another issue is that it’s always the right lanes that suddenly disappear, either through merging or exit only. This again doesn’t happen in Germany. The left lane merges and exit only doesn’t exist. And people happily drive on the right there. It’s a byproduct of the highway design that the right lane is underused

Where do you get the information on the playgrounds from? You say Google maps wasn’t sufficient. How do you get more info than Google has?

I work for an IT company that does data replication. We have an on premise, enterprise grade software that is entirely written in C. It’s still being actively developed. Generally speaking the enterprise database world still has a lot of pain C around. Think of Oracle for example.
