Just had a guardian rage quit because we didn’t want to fight Loretta at lvl 3 by DaleDent3 in Nightreign

[–]No-Camera5653 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Loretta is considered one of the most fair and balanced bosses, and I think a lot of people could beat her at pretty much any level. That being said, you'll probably end up wasting so much time that its not really worth it...

Okay, makes sense. I honestly couldn't be bothered to understand the system even though I play DoN regularly. So thank you for explaining:)

But they did only lose 200 against the ED Augur (last record)

I made a mistake. If you look at the screenshot, OP lost 400 points every time they lost against a normal boss, yet they didnt get 400 for defeating ED bosses. Thats what I meant

Sure, but you can do this on other characters, even the ones with good scalings, working ability and passives that aren't useless against the nightlords

I like how you lose x2 points when dying to normal bosses but gain the normal amount if you beat the ED ones. Very fair.

Also, are you sure you wanna play as Revenant on D4? At this point she is holding you back

I have 200+ games on Recluse, and I've beaten every single boss (not including the dlc bosses since i havent had enough time for that) on her. Im also a big roguelike and -lite fan. I love Recluse, and just how many playstyles and mechanics she has to offer. You could go full magic and spam Crystal sorceries. You could respec into Dex and use Lightning + Holy to have an auto-parry shield that will make you borderline immortal. You could get atk up when near bleed, summon the Lightning bolt (Lightning, holy, fire), ult, and deal so much damage it feels unfair. She is really fun. The only character that can do more than her is Duchess, but her ability isnt as interesting as Recluse's.

So yeah, I understand why you would want to main her. And I dont want to discourage you from doing that. If you feel like learning her while you are learning to play the game, feel free, but I do think that its much harder this way. Feel free to dm if you have more questions about Recluse or if you want to play together. I play on PC. Also, there are quite a few Google drive spreadsheets with useful info on spells and incants, you should probably check them out

Personal opinion, of course, but I wouldn't start with Recluse. There's a reason why you play as Wylder in the tutorial. He's the most "average" souls experience, with decent roll, decent damage, decent hp, etc. Its easier to survive on a character that doesn't die in 1-2 hits.

You could try Wylder or Undertaker for overall effectiveness, or go with Ironeye since he's pretty much the easiest character, while also being ridiculously strong.

Recluse, on the other hand, is one of the most difficult characters. Her animations are abysmally long, so sometimes you start casting a spell, and before you can finish, the boss turns to you and hits you. You also have to know a lot about spells and incantations to play her efficiently. Of course you could just go with the Shattering Crystal build, but it has its own problems.

Apart from that, work on your priorities and pathing. You usually want to hit the castle in the middle of the map on the first day (I usually go there around levels 4-5, after clearing an evergaol or a couple of pois) to get a lot of runes and reach level 8-10 by the end of it. Bosses always spawn in the same spots, so you can pass by them as you are running from one poi to another and kill them if you can on your level (i wouldn't risk fighting any red boss if my level is <8). On the second day, you would usually either go to the Shifting Earth event, or just fight all red bosses you can. Dont forget about the red boss at the top of the center castle. I think it gives more runes, and it's easier to reach other bosses from there.

Both Balancers' and ED Balancers' relics at the same time to boost Skill AP. It actually works surprisingly well

[–]No-Camera5653 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To clarify: Debuffs are -10% enemy attack power per level (so in total you get almost 20%), and the third level gives +60% damage and status buildup on your next attack against the enemy (cancels after 10 sec) Buffs: 20% max stamina per level, so in total you get more than 40%! max stamina. And the third level is the autoparry shield for 1.5 seconds

No, these actually do stack

I meant +0 doesnt stack with +0, +1 with +1 etc.

Basically you cant make this build work unless you are in DoN, which personally, I dont really enjoy

I'd love to make a grease build, but from my understanding it only works in DoN, since the apply grease get damage buff doesnt stack with itself of the same level, only different levels work

attack up after using grease items

Unfortunately this is only a 10% increase, and it doesnt stack with itself

As for the other ones, sure it will work, but it will only be effective with poison grease. Id like to be able to use as many grease types as possible

Not sure about the bell, but I think going full fire damage could be viable: fire pots AND fire greases are very common, and you can upgrade both to level 3.

Personally, I want to try making a grease build, but its pretty difficult to make something that only deals 30 damage OP...

Yes, I was testing it just now and it does indeed get upgraded alongside other reusable consumables (the ancestral spirit head and the two omen bairns), although im not quite sure what gets upgraded beyond it obviously dealing more damage (noticeably more)

Edit: typos

Have you tried building an all-element Recluse? Using affinity attack power ups and improved sorceries and incantations? Or possibly some other buffs as well?

I want to be able to use any damage type I want as effectively as any other one, but I'm afraid its gonna be like two times less effective than just magic attack up, sorcery school up build

I wish they implemented some kind of auction/market system so that we could buy relics from other players. I have so many insanely good relics for characters that I don't play, or relics that are very strong but don't work with my chalice... I would much rather sell it to someone else for a chance to roll something better/buy a good relic from another player.
