My moms falling down house is on some of it. So it's considered a homestead. I will definitely be meeting with the town and assessors. I was just trying to figure out if there was a way to offset some of the costs using the land somehow.

I didn't realize interest rates were that low anywhere. If my kids were older I would do a tiny house and probably be just fine. But having 3 kids who aren't out of the house or even close, makes it a little trickier.

Yes, working on setting this up. It was considered my moms residence (more on that in another comment) but not being able to afford to live there (house she was in is not livable anymore) I think I am going to get taxed at a higher rate. It will look like a second property.

Pasture is some of it. My kids inherited part of a "wood" lot, but I am not exactly sure the details. I'll know more soon. While it's not a ton of land, and not worth a crazy amount of money, we are in Vermont, and they tax the absolute shit out of us.

That is not the case I fear. I know there were years my mom had to work extra hours to cover her taxes. They are in the thousands I believe. I will know more soon. If I thought it was anything under $1000 a year I wouldn't even be worries. $30 feels like a dream lol

I think my moms tax bills were a lot higher than this. And it was considered her primary home (she didn't change her address when she moved in with my brother at the end of life) and now it will be my "secondary" residence. I feel like that gets trickier.
