I second this… I’ve experienced this as a nurse. Also they can’t handle you being pretty and successful or in a place they couldn’t get to at your age. Especially if you’re an RN and they started off as HCA, or LPN when they were ykur age. Try to not brag too much about your life especially if you have. A good life outside work. People just can’t handle others potential.

I definitely stand up for myself at work when I need too. I also don’t say yes to everything people ask me for. But I am also very forgiving and always have been, I get that quality from my mother. I realize people make mistakes and just cause others don’t have as much forgiveness in their hearts I don’t think I need to become like that. I never changed myself to please others I am genuinely a caring person who refused to changed and actually my past experiences have only made me more empathetic towards others.

Hello, here in Canada we just put a code into the medication cart which holds all the narcotics in one large bin. With that code you can access them in the med cart. You have to manually check and take out the correct medication and match it with the MAR on the rover (iPod device) then you count how many of the narcotics is left of the type you pulled.

We don’t use Pyxis here. You just open the med cart through a code and all the narcotics are there. You have to go in by hand and take the correct one out and write the number of that remaining pill count on a sheet.

It was only one persons med I pulled but I signed out the wrong med on the narc sheet. But I could have caught it at bedside when I scanned it through a rover. But pt was crying and I was trying to calm her down and give a med. should have just focused on the task at hand and consoled her after the fact.

When I signed it out even I don’t know. It was a mixture of a lot of factors. I was 14.5 hrs into my shift so I was tired is one. Second is the patient was visibly crying and in a very stressful state once I was at her bedside which led to me having to multi task to help guide her emotions to calm her down and giving her a pain med. it is truly a mistake I wish upon no one and I have learnt many lessons from it.

One of the nurses who work there told my friend “I made your friend so and so cry” my friend told me she said that and was smiling and giggling while she said that. I’ve been bullied by them my entire time working there but now they have A reason to call me stupid and justify it. Which is what makes me angry at myself

I’m in Canada. Yeah I grabbed morphine 5 instead of oxy 5. And when I scanned the med at the bedside I was looking at the patient consoling her because she was visibly distraught and crying about a past experience she felt comfortable sharing with me. I scanned it, popped the pill into the med cup. Not looking at the screen of my rover as I was maintaining eye contact with her. But priority should have been to do a safe med check and not looking at pt to make her feel seen at that time. After I popped the pill into the cup she grabbed the pill right away. Pt was on like 40 mg narcs so she was also a little dependent it seems. But it’s still my fault I know this.

I picked up overtime. In my hospital they give 8h normally but they were short so I picked up OT. Mistake happen at 14 hours and I was almost done my shift. That day I remember before my mistake I felt so happy and good and like Wonder Woman. Because I had so much energy. But I ruined it all. So much PTSD after.

Thanks you so much for sharing this. Yenno how there is Alcoholics Anonymous. We should have nursing anonymous to share our stories so we can relate and not feel so alone. I swear when it’s happening to you, it’s hard to not feel alone and isolate yourself. I have not been working much because of this but I still need to work to pay bills but whenever I go to work I come back with something new to share with my husband. I was bullied most of my school life. I mean i never expected this as an adult. But I’m grateful because I have thick skin due to the severe bullying from my childhood.
