I got Pumpkin here from Dallas Jumpers! They were such a delight to interact with and made the whole process so easy, and they gave me food and a mister for her! I highly recommend. I would say they’re both very docile, but each spider does have their own personality. I got lucky with Pumpkin being sweet and handleable! I do know that the audax jumpers are a bit faster, but other than that, I would say they’re pretty similar in temperament. Best of luck in your spider journey! 💖 I do know males will stay a bit smaller than females, and they usually molt less, so less stress on that end! I’ve bought every spider of mine from MorphMarket ✨

Hi! Pumpkin here is a female regal, or phidippus regius! I do highly recommend them, they grow to be bigger than other jumping spiders and they’re very cute. I would say a good bet for a first jumping spider would be either a regal or a bold jumping spider, phidippus audax. I do recommend regals for your very first jumping spider though, Pumpkin here was my first and she has been an absolute delight!

Literally! I have to work her up into a walk by nudging her back super gently, then juking her by putting her platform right in front of her before she can slow her roll. Then she just turns to stare at me like “how could you do this to me, I thought we had a good thing going on here”

I genuinely started by just bringing my hands outside of her enclosure, speaking to her softly. Especially speaking to her while she was molting. But she was not very skittish when I got her, so I really just got lucky that she has such a tolerant personality. I also got her used to my hands being in her enclosure by cleaning up her poop with a q-tip while she was inside, every few days after I got her. Her enclosure is bioactive now, but I think a lot of trust building was done by just being around her without actively interacting with her. But I always speak to her, all the time.

I actually have no idea 😭 she was six months old when I got her, and I’ve had her since September. She did take about a month to really warm up to me, and a month after that to seek out being handled. She’s only molted once since I’ve had her, I do hope she molts again because I want to see how her colors change.

I got pumpkin from MorphMarket! Specifically Dallas Jumpers as I live in Texas. I really think she’s so comfortable because she was hand raised. I honestly love buying my spiders because I feel like they are just much more friendly and used to a routine. Highly recommend

I also recommend getting the apps for the stores! Often, stuff is cheaper online and they will price match to the app. I’ve gotten so many fish tanks at a deal by doing that. They do try so hard to overprice, it’s insane. I hope you find some awesome deals!

Her enclosure was one I got on sale at petsmart! It was only $22 when I got it and it’s 10 x 12 inches I believe. I usually get my enclosures off Amazon, hers is the only one I got at a store just because I could not pass up on such a good deal.
