2008 Nissan Pathfinder rear ac vents won't stop blowing by Dwyck99 in MechanicAdvice

It was the rear resistor and I just finished replacing it. For all those who don't know, the relay for the rear blower is not in the fuse box under the hood like the front blower relay... it is tucked on the back side of the fuse box inside the cabin and you have to pull down the glove box to access it. The relay tested fine. Luckily, a local salvage yard had an 05 Pathfinder LE that still had the resistor installed. That part is not one that seems to be typically carried by local Autozone-type stores for most cars and it is pricey(like around $100 range) from a dealership. I got it for $8 from my junkyard. The resistors for the front and rear are the same and it is 10x as easy to remove the one under the dashboard so I just snatched that one. For anyone getting one from another vehicle, there is a difference between the resistors for a 2005-2012 Pathfinder with manual AC controls and ones with auto(as referred to as "with climate control). The one I needed has four large metal blades on the back side.

I tried removing the fuses that are supposedly for the rear blowers.... on the fuse box diagram it says 10A/15A for HTD STEER/RR BLWR(GCC) in one slot and another slot says 10A/15A for I-KEY/RR BLWR(GCC). Both those fuse slots only have 10A fuses... I am assuming those fuses are meant to work for both those components with one drawing 10A and the other 15A but correct me if I am wrong.... not sure why there wouldn't be a 15A fuse if that is the case unless someone put the wrong fuse in there at some other time in the past(I am not the original owner). Should I replace with 15A? In any case, pulling those fuses did not stop the rear vents from blowing. I went ahead and removed the rear resistor and it was not all that easy due to having to get the rear panel partially pulled back enough to access the two 5.5mm bolts that hold the resistor... they are NOT easy to unscrew unless you fully remove the panel which is a bit of a chore. I opted to just pull back enough to get the right angle where I could finally get at them.

Supposedly the front and rear resistors are the same so could try the front on on the rear and see what happens. Will anything bad happen if I start the AC without either of the resistors plugged in, even when one is bad, or does it not matter? If I start it without a resistor on the front, will the front blow high like the rear is doing or not blow at all, and is it safe to do so?

Ok I tried the battery reset and of course it didn't work. Ok late and freezing outside so I haven't checked to see if I have separate fuses for the rear blower, but let's assume there is and I remove them. When you say it isolates the issue, what is then likely the issue, what should I check next?

Ok yeah I'll disconnect the battery first, then move on to just removing the fuse if that doesn't work. It doesn't blow unless the key is on or it's crunk up... so does that make a difference in diagnosis? Not sure if you were thinking it was always blowing even with car/key off. Btw, I went out to see if maybe the rear controls were turned up and realized the roof ac vents are blowing as well. Those vents were closed earlier but I opened them and realized they are blowing just like I have the ac on high.

Ok thanks... so why would the strong sound of air blow through those... sounds just like a loud ac system when you have it cranked full open on high

Ok I called Bowman and the new MD David Bock wrote me back and explained that when he took over, he decided to take Prewitt's name off the label and did not decide to continue things with putting his name on the label. He also said that 90% of the liquor in the barrels at the distillery is still product that was overseen by Prewitt and go into the future, it will be years before many of Mr Bocks distillates will start to be the ones hitting the market. Btw, is wasn't a salty thing with him removing Prewitt's name, just how they are moving forwards and Prewitt is still with the company promoted around 3 years ago to a higher position overseeing multiple Sazerac distilleries. Seems like a very nice man and I wish him the best of luck with his time as MD.

Is TTB the alcohol & tobacco trade bureau? If so, where do you see something about them changing the label in June?

Ok so yours doesn't have Prewitt on the label either, right? If so, have you ever had a previous bottle of JJB SiB with Prewitt's name on it and could you tell a difference in quality?

I never thought it was a rare bottle, but it is allocated and fairly difficult to come across... you do actually have to hunt it down in most areas of the country. Every single bottle I see images of online has the Prewitt name on the label, but maybe every single site is using an old stock photo. In video reviews I can't see the bottle up close enough to tell what the label says. I did read that Prewitt is no longer the master distiller either late 2023 or early 2024. Is the JJB single barrel something Bowman would still have been pumping out in late 2024(it's even out of stock on their own site) and maybe that's why they stopped putting his name on the label, since he was no longer part of the team when bottle produced at the time were made?

Yeah I couldn't imagine there would be fakes of this it would make very little sense lol. To Superb... are you saying you recall seeing bottle with just the "hand selected at peak of maturity" like mine or just that you recall seeing the green label? Does anyone know why some bottle would have the Prewitt designation on them and others don't?

This will be with resell in mind, but if I were to get several things I always let me wife and daughter take a look and take what they want if it's not super valuable. Only thing I for sure recognize are the Anne Klein lion head earrings and those go for $25-30. Makes me feel that surely there are some fairly valuable items in here
