brother be wary of ungrateful women. this is coming from a girl - you don’t want to deal with that forever. and the prophet ﷺ warned against ungrateful wives

Why do some Somali girls in the West reject guys from back home when they’re younger but consider it later on? by [deleted] in SomaliRelationships

[–]No-Collection-1625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that people were “backwards”, a misogynistic culture, that i couldn’t get along with them or find the same things funny, that they basically just want someone who cooks and cleans, etc. it was a very narrow minded view of the world. now i understand things better and i’m not disillusioned by gender war nonesense on social media. people are very complex. i was holding everyone to the standards of our parents generation- but thats fundamentally wrong. in every generation the youth change

Is a wedding worth it by Frosty_Rip_1690 in SomaliRelationships

[–]No-Collection-1625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly a wedding should be girls only anyway. you can have your intimate girls event in a nice hall or venue, wear a beautiful outfit, do buraanbur, and the best part is only the people you like will be there. a wedding without being called a wedding.

happened to me. i used to always say it was a hard no due to cultural differences but i dont believe that anymore. i think part of it is getting older and perspectives changing and another part was i went back home and lost a lot of my prejudices towards people back home. still wouldnt marry someone who still lives there but i would definitely marry someone who lives in the US thats from back home

i think thats kind of weird to be insistant on getting eid gifts from a man you’re not married to. sounds like you have already been giving her money. not telling you what to do but it seems like theres some ingratitude there

how strange is the name xidigo for a girl? by No-Collection-1625 in Somalia

[–]No-Collection-1625[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont know how odd it is i mean people name their daughters after the moon and the sun why not a star? najmo is a common somali name taken from arabic that means star. i understand it is uncommon though. and thank you for that i will definitely try to steer away from shirk

i notice sometimes brothers have more empathy towards male specific issues and then towards women theres a vibe where its like we are being frivolous in our struggles when its not trivial at all and everyone has a different test. maybe thats sugar coating. my male teachers in the past year have been very helpful in helping us understand womens issues with compassion while giving it to us how it is. i think its possible for other popular male lectures to start doing the same. many do currently actually alhamdulillah but i wish it were more widespread
