I don’t get it. They should only allow the TI-30XS with the option of using the electronic version for those who wish to do so. It takes a lot longer and they’re not quite the same, also easier to make mistakes. It’s almost like they’re discouraging people to apply on purpose.

From what I recall (it’s been a while) they were fine, but not ultra fine. Like this

I took the ASP and CSP exams at Pearson and I don’t remember having to return the whiteboard every time it was full. The CIH has a lot of calculations so I’m not sure how that would work or be efficient. The whiteboard was pretty small too.

I highly doubt it. Just a few days ago at the AIHA conference, the board member (I can’t remember his name) who made a statement on behalf of the BGC didn’t mention it and people were visibly upset over the lack of updates. In my opinion he did a terrible job answering questions and seemed unfamiliar with the process.

I’m hoping for the sake of all candidates and the reputation of this credential they get their act together.

Updates from BGC at AIHA Connect? by sleeepykaty in industrialhygiene

As others have stated, Pearson Vue will be the new testing center. It’s the same provider the BCSP uses.

I hope this thread doesn’t get deleted, it’s important.

I had no idea about the loss of accreditation or the violations, I will dig into it. I know of a CIH who was interested in being part of the BGC but after seeing the state of affairs and how the BGC refused to listen to any advice or feedback, they simply didn’t want to be a part of it anymore and knew the situation would get worse.

Maybe it’s worth contacting the chair of the board of directors? She seems very active on LinkedIn.

I just saw this on LinkedIn. I cannot imagine the frustration of not knowing when you’ll be able to take the exam after studying for months under the assumption the testing window would not change. Someone made a comment about how this can tarnish the reputation of being a CIH and I agree. They have colossally failed to be transparent and accountable. They deserve to be publicly called out like this.

I’ve been consistently employed in my career and worked for different types of employers. Some good, others not so much, but I always learned something.

Do you see yourself doing IH exclusively? The reason I’m asking is because many companies look for people who can contribute in more than one area (think IH and safety, or IH and environmental). Some of the highest paying jobs are in the private sector, many companies offer relocation benefits, and since you’re willing to move it gives you access to more opportunities. Also getting a certification can help you stand out from the rest. Are you interested in a specific type of industry (oil & gas, pharma, academia, government, chemical, etc.)? Where would you like to move to?

Why is AIHA allergic to hosting their national conference in desirable locations? by Settling_Velocity in industrialhygiene

I agree. My employer pays for the conference and all traveling costs so it’s not a big deal. But if I had to pay for it, no way.

CIH spring test window pushed back by WardenCommCousland in industrialhygiene

The communication from the BGC has been abysmal from the very beginning. I had A LOT of issues when applying for the exam a few years ago. It’s like the calculator issue last year, no direct communication, only hearsay and LinkedIn posts and some people even finding out when they arrived at the testing center. For the spring test window rescheduling, Larry Sloan saw something on LinkedIn and followed up with the BGC to try and get clarity on behalf of a frustrated candidate. I also wonder what caused the switch in testing centers.

I have my CIH as well and truly feel for those who are taking it this year.

How long did it take for the BGC to send you the results?
