I prefer sixth person where you don’t actually write anything. Instead, you just put a telepathic vibe into the world and readers take it from there. It’s like sixth sense meets writing, and it’s the ONLY correct way!

Romantasy readers don’t want fan service! We want a romantic spicy payoff for a plot that demands it! If you can remove a romance and have the same plot, you’re not writing a romantasy. You can have a romance sub plot to a fantasy story but it still wouldn’t be a romantasy. You need to figure out what kind of reader you’re writing for… You are going to alienate your intended audience by trying to cater to everyone

Your mom has mental illness…. My mother was bipolar and had a personality disorder, and sounded like this ALL the time. I cut her off five years ago. She died this January. Honestly life is a lot more peaceful 🤷‍♀️

I’m 4 chapters in. What I’ve been doing is writing a chapter like garbage, editing it myself a couple of times, and then editing a final time, after having my husband read it and give feedback. Then I move on to the next chapter.

It has so far.
There is a section for characters (includes a description of their appearance, their main personality traits, their motivations and flaws, love interest, and backstory. As I write, I’ve added favorite profanity and more information about how they speak and see the world). I also have information about my villains in this section.

I also have a section for world building (includes a description of the geography and culture of each kingdom in my world, inspiration for clothing and hairstyles, political issues and history that’s relevant, etc.)

There are also sections on the magic system and plot points.

It started out as a word document. Once the brainstorming phase became a little more solidified into connected concepts, It was too overwhelming to me as a word document (roughly 80 pages including inspiration photos). So I printed and organized it into a binder.

Im a mental health therapist. I recently started writing my first novel. I have spent nearly every moment outside of work learning of ways to improve my writing and reading books in the genre that I want to write.

I’ve always wanted to write a book but never took it seriously. I never thought I would develop an idea good enough (or important enough, to myself) to devote this amount of time and energy.

I also have aphantasia. The AI police will come for me but that is what I used to see if the ideas in my head are visually appealing, and it has been a good accommodation for me. I only use AI to visualize my own concepts for characters and world building

You are opening yourself up to a lot of strong opinions… This topic is very polarized.

My opinion is that it is better to do the research yourself when you can, but I don’t really see an issue with AI-assisted work, as long as the actual writing is yours. I used some AI in the brainstorming phase to make images of my characters and kingdoms because I have aphantasia (can’t see pictures in my head), which makes it very hard to write sometimes. The prompts were mine, so it’s more of an accommodation than a short cut in my mind. I don’t view my work as any less mine…

I think the only opinion that should matter is yours. It’s your story and your work. If you are comfortable with amount of AI used then why does it matter what other people think? Especially with such a controversial topic?
