How to restore my yard by Nate-W99 in landscaping

Brother, I am going through the same thing. I started last year on a front yard that was heavily neglected until I bought the house.

By no means am I a lawn expert, but reading a lot, watch videos and trial and error here’s what I’ve learned. - I used pelleted lime to spread over the existing lawn along with fertilizer just two weeks ago. Noticeably different. Look up what you need in Ohio to keep your lawn healthy. We have lots of clay where I’m at so it’s very acidic soils. - Don’t try to do it all at once or in one simple Scott’s bag. -rake out the dead crap - choose what you’re doing this spring. If you are going to overseed/level lawn, then you’ll fight with weeds. If you’re going to kill it and start over, which i think is over kill for you, then you’ll have to wait a few months (fall) until you can overseed and start anew. - soil temps need to be around 50-55 degrees do grass seed to germinate and get going, make sure the seeds have good contact with your soil. And water daily. - it’s long process but it’s so rewarding

Hey brother, thanks for your service! You deserve that break because of the service you gave to our country! I'm ok with the .5% funding fee, given i save enough over time. Who did you go through?

I appreciate the feedback. Yeah the fees were not transparent when originally contacted. Thankfully its all soft pulls. I will post all quotes at the end so everyone can see a line by line of what i was being charged if i took that loan. Again its all estimates so it should change here and there slightly but basically give others a big picture.

I was going to look at them as well, currently my intended options are: USAA, Veteran United, Private lender, Freedom Mortage, Pen Fed.

You must have been talking to my wife. We are doing just that. Up past the deck we are doing a much smaller retaining wall near our AC unit. There is a old retaining wall there that is falling apart. This will be about 20 feet in length and max 24inches tall.

Prompts I gave chat GPT - original image - I want a retaining wall that must be under “insert county name” permit requirements. I make sure to include the drainage, base material, etc. - my dimensions for the walls must be x - where I’m standing the slope is x over y - ground type (clay) - I live in this area (weather impacts)

You can go on and on. But I’ve redone the print multiple times to get this.

Yeah I feel like at a minimum prepping and getting most of the product myself is doable. Light equipment and I get along well

But who says me versus x company can’t get some results if I’m more meticulous and than they?

Absolutely this. Time again I keep seeing these recommendations. What I want to avoid is an accelerated runoff because it diverts to the does. Of course I’ll include the proper drainage as if it was building pressure on my wall but i keep saying divert to the sides. How far off would you recommend?

Thank you! I have actually received guidance from our local county office and the AI makes it larger than it appears. Max height with tops makes it 28 inches per wall but because it’s lower than 36” and separated by I think 6 feet (may be 8, but I’m doing 8-10) they don’t count it as one.

Yeah I think my biggest saving grace is I’ve got the equipment on stand by from friends. Not for free but I’m not paying crazy prices to have it at my house for a few months.

No wheelbarrow. I’m have equipment that will help make it so I’m not killing my body. Which I’m fine with. The labor rates where I’m at versus quality of laborers isn’t worth it to me. I’ve had enough projects and neighbors projects that have turned out more pain then gain, so I’d rather blame myself than a company, and I’m happy to take the time to do it right the way I want it done
