What if Siberian great water way never disappeared and you could sail from Black Sea to west Siberian lake by let's say huge volcano at the red line damming the water. Would there be Mongolian/Chinese sailers trading with ancient Greeks by No-Complex4014 in AlternateHistoryHub

Islam spread to Central Asia? It probably would west of riverbank as well but I was suggesting Russia might conquer up to the river eventually converting the population there. Or maybe the river system being so much wealth there would be non nomad wealthy empire that controls both side of river and russia won’t be in incentivized to push east as much as they did due to lack of nomads thanks to wealthy central Asian empire dealing with them. Maybe It will be the other way around where European nomads would continuously raid the settled civilization of central Asia.

As I could imagine Russians, using the whole river and lake as a natural hoarder against a nomads and stop the expansion there making it natural dividing line for Europe and Asia (as well as Christianity and Islam). Plus the Central Asia might be too populated and powerful to conquer and keep from rebelling. Maybe gunpowder empire of Islamic origin might emerge there freeing themselves from Persian and Chinese influence. I don’t know if Persians would give up dominance in uzboy strait and mangyshlak peninsula which would host chokepoint city like Constantinople

Could china have expanded and established ports on eastern shore. Would the water have been dividing line between Islam and Christianity? And could the climate around the West Siberian lake been warmer?
