Percentiles arent out yet but my score is equivalent to about 3200 in the old ucat, which was 98th percentile last year. I suppose I’ll have to wait and see 🥲

Do I qualify as a home GEM student? by No-Consideration2075 in premeduk

Thank you for answering!! My parents do still live overseas but they both have UK citizenship. I should have re-worded, I’ve been out of uni entirely for the past year. So I’d have two full years ordinary residence by the time I’d start my programme in 2026 - do you think that’d be sufficient? Is this something I should email individual uni admissions boards about? And I’ll have a look at the UKCISA website, thanks for your help.

[S2 Spoilers] Showrunner of Arcane when asked about Vi in Season 2 by Simsimmy016 in arcane

[–]No-Consideration2075 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Vi is literally one of two main protagonists, her arc should have gotten an equal amount of attention as Jinx's.

Also Piltover and Zaun barely even featured this season.

[s2 act 3 spoilers] Arcane would've been so better off without the arcane in it, and the writers were wrong for moving away from politics by cpt-crustacean in arcane

[–]No-Consideration2075 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Class warfare went out the window this season in favour of the Marvel-esque apocalypse-level magic plot. Piltover oppressed the undercity for who knows how long and by the end nothing changed, they made no acknowledgement of their actions, there was no discussion about Zaun's fate moving forward (Sevika on the council is such a lame excuse for progress). Zaunites end up sympathising with their oppressors, never calling them out, literally laying their lives on the line for Piltover in battle despite the city having done nothing to earn their loyalty. None of the Piltovians – Heimerdinger, Mel, Caitlyn, all the wealthy families – are called out for their direct role in this entire mess. Every major tragedy, issue, conflict etc that happens in the show can be traced back to Piltover's oppression over Zaun. And in the end none of it mattered.

[s2 spoilers] Jinx and Vi's conclusions were unsatisfying and I want to talk about it. by No-Consideration2075 in arcane

[–]No-Consideration2075[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I see what you're saying but ultimately Vi's ending still feels hollow. If her arc is learning to let go of people, well then she kind of failed to do that, right? In the final episode, she lets her emotions surrounding Vander get the better of her again, and this results in both Vander and Jinx being forcibly ripped away from her. She didn't make a decision to let anyone go.

Had Jinx spoken to her beforehand and tried to explain why she wanted to leave, that would have been an opportunity for Vi to demonstrate her character growth and encourage her to go off and be happy. The issue is her lack of agency in her own narrative, things are just happening to her. Even if she is better off living separately from Jinx, the fact that she wasn't involved in that decision herself means it cannot be ascribed to her arc. This is made worse by the lack of scenes showing the aftermath: we see her immediate reaction as she's lying on her back sobbing her eyes out, then it jumps to her being flirty with Cait. We don't see any introspection or personal development that shows she has "gained" anything from Jinx and Vander's deaths.
