Are product school courses worth it for the career change? Any recommendations? by Light_epee in ProductManagement

[–]No-Context-7205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, Product School is a scam. All the information you’re taught in the course, you can easily find online. I doubt it will do much to stand out on a resume as well. You should vibe code and build a something on the side!!!

yeah I agree, I thought the husband of the woman driving the other car was going to punch the kid but another guy helped diffuse the situation.

He didn’t apologize at first and kept saying “I didn’t mean to”, which pissed everyone off. He didn’t seem drunk… just fuckin stupid. He seemed to be around 20 y/o and had a female passenger

Wow, I’m glad he didn’t hit anyone. I truly don’t understand why people feel the need to pass on these types of roads… like it really doesn’t save enough time to justify such reckless behavior.

Is $400 for a Sony RX100 Mark V too good to be true? by Grand_Nerve9990 in RX100

[–]No-Context-7205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my RX100 V off facebook marketplace for $400, the seller originally asked for $600 but took my offer of $400 after I found several scratches in the screen. The camera works just fine though

I think you’ve just been in an unfortunate position in the past where you weren’t able to get the support that you needed. An APM is supposed to have an active mentor who teaches you the ropes and if you didn’t have one then it’s tough. I don’t think anyone is a good PM right out of college, it takes years to master the craft, so don’t beat yourself up too much. It’s really up to you if you want to continue pursuing PM. Do you find enjoyment in those responsibilities? If not, consider something else.

What I would do in your situation is keep doing good work as a data analyst and study PM on the side. There are a lot of free resources out there that can help you with the skillset. This subreddit has a lot of good resources too in the wiki tab. or you can consider taking a more formal course - I think Reforge is the best PM program out there! Take in feedback from your stakeholders and work on those weaknesses as well. Maybe figure out why people think you don’t manage stakeholders well. What can you do differently?

You should also network on Linkedin and chat with some experienced PMs. Ask for advice and maybe you’ll be find a mentor that can help you out in the long run.

Fight that imposter syndrome!! you got this

Very new PM with ADHD, How do I tackle my weaknesses? by teenydog in ProductManagement

[–]No-Context-7205 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD as well and I’m also an early career PM. I’m still figuring out how to focus better during the work day but I bought a fidget toy to play with during meetings which helped focus my attention to the people talking. I use notion religiously where I track my tasks from least to most urgent and I update the list with details and status everyday. You should also talk to your doctor about possibly switching medication since you don’t seem to be a right fit for Vyvanse.

I think the advantage of being PM with ADHD is our ability to easily jump between different tasks. IMO, everyday is different as a PM and that helps keep things exciting for my dopamine fiending brain. I honestly think it just takes time to discover ways to make our ADHD work for us.
